I am getting the same thing now. I just bought this phone 2 days ago. If I took it back I cant get my 40 bucks back could I? I can only get my 300 plus tax back correct?

if you are talking about the money you paid for the first month of service probably not.i tried when i returned my first evo and didnt even get a email back saying no.i am now trying to see if they will give me free hotspot for 6 days because of the problems i had with the phone and for the week i didnt even have an evo until i bought a new one.they did get back to me about that but i had a typo on my phone# so i had to send another email with the right number.

Alright this post goes for everyone not just jvillejoe: If you buy the phone from a third party retailer, you're on your own when it comes to refunds, as it only can be returned to them. As for service, if you use the service at all, it probably won't be refunded. VM does only full refunds or nothing for months. Terrible.

Yes this problem has been going on for some time with Sprint devices. Can't wait to switch networks...

That's a joke, if you don't have wifi u use 1 mb of data just to get ur phone up and running,,
For sure, and even with the screen off, if you have sync turned on in the background and don't have something like Juice Defender cutting off your data connection, you will use that much. Maybe it was a typo and he meant to write 15 MB?

One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is the *#*#4636#*#* method. You dial that, go into phone info, then look at "Set preferred network type." It should be CDMA auto (PRL.) However, when the radio interface resource error occurs you can see that this has been set as WCDMA. Setting it back on CDMA auto and restarting will fix this temporarily but it still randomly resets to WCDMA.

If anyone knows a way to force CDMA auto (PRL) at all times that would really help.

Restarting along will reset it.
However, the error is just a timeout and will send when available.

BY rebooting, you are just resetting the radio, and by then, traffic has cleared and the message goes through. Why Virgin/HTC chose an error code instead of just telling you it's delayed, I will never understand.

A delay makes sense; but what doesn't make sense is why the network bars freeze and the signal goes to -120 when the issue occurs. There's something going on here between VM's network and the phone's firmware. I'm stuck with this thing until the end of my billing period, but I'll try not to vanish from these forums in case I can help people some more.

Believe it or not, there is a software bug on the Nexus as well...but it involves the touchscreen not responding as well after using recent apps; much less severe than a radio problem. Can't anyone make a phone that works these days...?

Yeah I know. But I find it funny how the Optimus V works perfectly yet Google's phone still has issues to this day.

Part of the issue is that this isn't a new phone, it's an updated one, and for some reason it's harder to update than create new.

Perhaps because this is a WiMax phone? Also, because we're updating from unlimited accounts to limited ones that are more expensive? Who knows what this is like on the back-end.

Other WiMax phones don't have this issue. I looked through the forum for Boost's Evo Design and I haven't seen anything regarding the issue that we're having. And they use the Sprint network too. Also, not everyone is switching account types, and people from either category are experiencing this.

It's an Android issue. It was a manufacturer who said it was harder.

I would imagine it has less to do with technology, and more the fact that they have less developers working on the updates, and then rush them out because they don't make any money on them.

As for unlimited to unlimited accounts...

Last I looked, my 3g data isn't being counted, neither is 4g. Check on the VM website, yours probably isn't either. We are piggybacking Sprint and Clear, so Virgin's data tracking isn't working correctly. ;)

Haha, well that's surprising.

this evo has been acting like my first one these last couple days with the no service bug and also losing 4g a lot and lousy speeds. i cant even stream youtube on 4g without it buffering and im not even talking about hq.so i been writing vm angels a lot since thursday even including a link to the thread about htc saying its a software problem they are working on.

i wont bother writing all the things they told me since everyone that wrote them heard them.now when they told me i was going to be escalated i wrote back saying i already know it wont do anything that all they are going to end up doing is resetting my services and she wrote back and said this

My team is requesting for the matter to be escalated to Sprint to seek out a resolution.

now im not sure what they think sprint can do but i never saw anyone mention that they were told they were being escalated to sprint(maybe other people were and i just missed it)so i thought i would pass on what i was told

edit- i just got hit with -120 again for the 6th time today.it was kinda funny when i was responding back to an email they sent i got hit with it then so i sent them a screen cap of it.they have been getting reports of tower problems in my area so im hoping it goes back to just happening once in a while and that i get decent 4g again.i still think its what i said a while back and that the problem is a combination of tower problems and bad software.

Update for everyone: HTC called me back just to let me know that they are still working on the issue. Even though I'm selling my phone on eBay once the end of this month comes around, I am staying in touch with their escalations department so I can bring you a release date if/when one comes around.

Metal have you tried using the new pri over in the root section? It also seems to stabilize the fluctuations.

Haha, no, I'm done with modding my phone. The next thing I do is flashing an RUU. I bought a Galaxy Nexus, and I'm never using an HTC phone ever again. I never liked Sense from the get-go...and Sprint's coverage is trash where I am

I agree with you. The text problem occurs most often at my apartment from 6pm to about midnight. Meanwhile, I rarely gets it at work.
