For USB connectivity, I would recommend Tether in the Store, its by ClockworkMod and is very easy to use. When you DL it and open it, there is an option to download the PC app that you install on the computer. Whats good about this one as opposed to even the free version of PDANet is that this one has no bandwidth limit. If you can't get it to connect, run the program on the computer, but don't connect. Open the app on the phone and then connect from there, it will automatically start on the computer and you should be good to go.
For wifi hotspot tethering, flash Spz0's OA2.3, it comes with it

Glad it worked out, I thought it was pretty good, too. I like it way better than PDAnet, or any other app.
