Help Problem with my phone

I was using my S2 as usual on the bus home. I had it on with the home screen displayed. I noticed after a while it went off so i pressed the home button, but nothing happened, not even when i pressed the power button. I was at 42% at this point. I took the back off and took out the battery and put it back in. The phone started up and i noticed i had dropped to 20%. What happened there?

I would love to show you the picture but i couldnt get into my account today and locked it out and decided i wasnt going to wait 15 minutes to try again despite having the correct password. And so i dont have link or photo ability on this back up account.

you may try wiping your battery stats in recovery mode.. but first you have to fully charge your phone and then go to recovery mode then wipe battery stats

This will happen I would say one in four or five times when you turn off your device and back on, or even on a reboot. Its one of the drawbacks of having a fuel gauge chip that never requires calibration.
When this happens, if you leave the phone on idle, you will notice the battery level gradually creep back up until it hits the actual reading.
