Yeah they block it..but there are ways around it

Noticed Metro is working on a new way to block tethering i just team viewed with ricky and i couldnt get his browsers to open a page all of them kept saying error could not connect to proxy server but yet he was connected through his phone we were using teamviewer so ya keep an eye out i dont think metro has given up on trying to prevent tethering. I tether a sec ago and at first i got a dns error but refreshed and managed to get to my google home page along with android forum. but anyways if any of ya experience a proxy server error let me know it could mean they started to block users.

root the device and install either one,

Easy Tether Lite

My phone is rooted...first thing i did:D I downloaded the wifi tether from google play. It worked great for about a month, then pfffffft. Only thing that I can consistently use is youtube and netflix. Forget using the browser on my tablet anymore. Kinda ironic how metro has been trying to shut down tethering and then they come out with the mobile hotspot on the galaxy lightray. Then again, they will probably charge extra like all the others.

The tethering is easily bypasses with changing user agent but in ricky case thats another story.

metro probably would have never blocked tethering if it wasn't for kids using tethering to run their xbox and ps3's

I don't know if you can change the user agent on a tablet. I rarely use my phone tether for a pc or laptop unless traveling. I definitely agree that tethering for free will be abused, it's just funny to see how hard metro is trying to block us from doing it. Oh well, just bought the galaxy s III on amazon for $99.99. Back to reliable rooted tethering....for now:rolleyes:

what tablet do you have? make sure its not set to desktop mode

what else doesn't work? I have a asus transformer prime and it tethers fine. I use the built in browser with no issues

The USA Today app will only work rarely wit no pictures. The Fox Sports app won't load. I can't open the kindle store. Sometimes when I try to download the LA Times from Nook, it fails. Now my Oregon Trail game won't upload. Droid Iris, Pulse won't update, etc. I don't think it's my tablet cuz it works fine over my home internet wifi

I've never use any of those apps, might be that metro identifies them as not being part of our phone, so they block them. Just a thought, I don't know that for a fact. Are any of those on our phones?
