Yeah, it really makes you feel American. (Why is America so Bass Ackward when it comes to cell phones)

Yeah, honestly. I just realized, the only reason I bought a Droid was because I really wanted a Hero (ever since the Euro model launched), but the components in it just weren't up to snuff. I wanted a phone that felt high-end, but was running Sense. Figured the wait would be a short one...

Been waiting since summer... Still waiting...

At least it seems we're getting close! I can't imagine VZW launching the Incredible after the EVO.

Hell right now I wish they'd just launch the N1. I wonder if the whole thing is that Verizon really doesn't like releasing phones in Q1. The Devour had a long enough gestation.

Agreed. I think I'm at the point where I would love to see any phone related announcement from Verizon, just to let me know they do still release phones. And no, the Devour is not a phone, it is a joke.

We have our quarterly meeting with our VZ VZW CFO on April 22nd. In the past he has dropped new info on phones that will be coming out or we already have out. If for some reason we don't here anything I will report what is said. They make all that stuff public so won't be a big dealeo.

Well I give in.......today at lunch I'm headed to pick up the Moto Droid for 30 days. I want a test run with a smart phone and I got some extra $ last night burning a hole in my pocket. I have 30 days to return it if I'm not happy so why not.

But the bottom line is this: It's just hard for me to understand how I'm sitting here, on a Friday morning, no contract, money in hand, and all I want is a phone from a reliable carrier that has a modern OS and modern components. That's it. That's no special request. But if I drive out of work right now, there is nowhere that I can go to get something that has those 3 seemingly basic characteristics.

totally agree. that's how i felt ...ended up "settling" for a droid (which has grown on me, btw).

anyway .. if you walk into verizon now, the devour is their baby. pffft.
sad.

i'm going to verizon tomorrow to haggle thru a couple errors on my bill/service change. i'm going to inquire (as I always do), but I'm sure all I'm going to get is "hey, check out this phone. the latest and greatest. the devour".

no thanks.

..... cricket sounds at verizon. :(

Not that I would have a clue what it is, but I get the feeling something has screwed up Verizon's timeline. One reason is the 2.1 update for Droid and Eris have seemingly missed their Q1 deadline, another is that I got the feeling Sprint rushed their EVO announcement because they wanted to get ahead of the Incredible. Yet the Incredible seems no closer to being announced. So now I'm not sure if the incred will beat out the Evo in regards to launch. If it does it won't be by much.

Let's face it, Steven. The minute we have an Incredible in our hand's, we'll be in a new forum waiting for the 2GHz processor phone with 4GB of DDR2 RAM running Windows 7 partitioned with Mac OSX.

Scary, but true.

Hell right now I wish they'd just launch the N1. I wonder if the whole thing is that Verizon really doesn't like releasing phones in Q1. The Devour had a long enough gestation.

I remember back on Jan 5th how excited I was that my NE2 was up on the 13th, and then the N1 came out, with a "Coming Soon" spring 2010 date. At the time the N1 was cutting edge great technology, and now it just seems second rate. Big Red is just killing me.

Really? It seems like Sprint likes to show off devices well before they're ready. They were talking all CTIA about the phone's 4G stack being very early, and it being "several months off." The Incredible has already appeared in the hands of the masses of Verizon testers with spec sheets.

I wouldn't bet it comes out in April, but almost certainly before June. If VZW has a phone that's ready to go, I'd imagine they'd try to jump the gun and get people into contracts before the EVO and next iPhone revision launch.

Wow guys, is this what we've become? There used to be a time when we welcomed information from people and we said thanks, because we actually dont have any confirmation from the head honchos that this phone exists, and when someone goes out of there way to source info we are grateful and of all the people that will post false info here, MM is not one of them, i am frankly disspointed in the naysayers that come here to disrupt the peace and fun we've been having here, really i understand that you need to have an opinion, but you might want to look at the "number of posts" and "number of times thanked" before you discredit and insult someone, i am new here myself and that is not the way to go

Has anyone come across any photos taken WITH the HTC Evo? I know that the Camera App was one of the things they were able to show off at CTIA but I haven't seen anything in regards to the quality of the pictures.

The reason I ask is because the Incredible will also have an 8MP Camera and the Sense UI for the camera app. I imagine that the Evo uses the same camera and software that we'll find on the Incredible. If we can find any it may be a good example of what we have to look forward to.
I recall reading one or two EVO hands on articles that mentioned the camera, and they said it was high quality and the video looked great too (especially playing back on the EVO's 4.3" screen!). I think the Incredible's camera experience will be the same or very similar.

He's a link to a hands on video demo:

If VZW doesn't hit us with something before my May 13th contract end date, I'm gonna be testing out the different coverages around the Minneapolis area. T-Mobile seems to bring out the latest and greatest first, so they might be first on my test list, but Minneapolis is on the Sprint 4G rollout list, so I might have to hold out on making my final decision until the Evo comes out with pricing info.

That's all IF Verizon lets me get to my contract's end because they don't like anything new and shiny.

I was just emailing my corporate Verizon rep about work stuff, and mentioned that I'd be switching to Verizon as soon as the Nexus or Incredible were released. Here's his response:

" [FONT=&quot]The HTC Nexus and Incredible are slated for May from what I know at this point. We can stay in touch on that."

Again, this is just a rep, may not know anything, take it with a shaker full of salt, etc etc etc.

A little off topic (But what isn't these days?) but I hear a few people talking about their Dares and hating on them...and I must say, the Dare has been a solid little phone for me. People have always been surprised that the pics I take are from a cellphone...and for the last two years, I haven't had a single issue...great reception in tunnels and DC's Metro...a pretty decent UI (Though I HATE the calendar...)

Now, do I want an Incredible? Hell yeah I do...can I wait a few months more? Hell yeah I can...Had I better get some news before the N1 comes out...PLEASE. Verizon, don't make me get the Google phone...

Slightly back ON topic...I'm hoping that the Inc. can be used on our family plan, unlike the N1...or are all Smartphones/Superphones going that route? Any idea if this is N1 limited, or if others will follow suit?

Also...listening to Montana Man's story (which seems too absurd to be made up, so I'm buying in 100%) did anyone else picture THIS guy as the rep? :D

I don't have anything to quantify why I think Sprint jumped the gun, I just think they did. Well partly there was no mention of a Sprint presser really before CTIA began I think. Maybe Sprint thought Verizon would launch the Incredible on the second day, supposedly execs were seen with the phone, and needed to get the Evo out day 1.

These morsels really keep me going...sad, but I'm OK with that. :)

What are we gonna do when this phone comes out?! LOL

What'd you do last night? I logged off. Come back this morning to check in, and see that MM got accused of 5 murders. Don't you know these guys need adult supervision.

Well, I went to bed after warning folks that they were out of line and they didn't stop. So? MM leaves (:() and the MODS actually get ticked off. Imagine that! I warned these people and now we're about to be closed. I kind of wonder if some folks kinda WANT us to get shut down. (pity)

I'm saddened. MM's a good man. I'm going to try to get him to come back. :)

Im sorry, but what new information are you referring to? I dont remember MM relaying any new information about the phone besides a CTIA announcement which didnt hold up. Please no more posts like this. Some of us dont believe his story, and some of us do. Lets just drop it.

Well at least we arent the only ones grumbling:

Some would say Google Nexus One is one of the coolest Android smartphones selling these days, and while not selling like hot cakes (yet) the arrival of the Nexus One in Verizon stores remains a mystery until date. It is a question which we have been posing to ourselves for a long time now and the stance of the VZW customers is also the same, but Big Red somehow seems unmoved by the queries.
Verizon-Nexus-One-Mystery.jpg

CTIA 2010 was one place where the hopefuls were thinking to get an answer but, Verizon tried to please them with the integration of Skype and nothing more.

The people anticipating the arrival of the biggest Android device until date are obviously annoyed with VZW turning a blind eye to them. It is noteworthy that VZW is itself at loss where two US carriers are already offering the handset when it is in stupendous demand.
It is time that the Nexus One release date should be announced by VZW as they have another big Android handset, HTC Incredible, also lined up for a future release. If VZW lingers on with the release date announcement for sometime later in the year, it will slash Nexus One sales as users will then prefer the fresh-in-stock HTC Incredible.
