Root Root/Flash after Factory Reset

Lurker
I changed my service provider from Verizon to Sprint. Since I have new phone, i decided to factory reset my old droid x and give it to my son to use as a wifi only device. But since the reset, i am not able to do anything on the phone except try and activate (which is not going to be possible). I tried running the DROID 3 Easy root script but am getting an error message"protocol fault <no status>" followed by "device not found" followed by REbooting the phone and nothing happens. Any help please

You should be able to get past activation by touching the four corners of the screen.
Didnt work, Do i need to touch the four corner in any particular order. I 1st screen i get on booting up the phone is the "Welcome to DROIDX" Touch the android to begin and the on touch the android icon "Activate your phone" screen comes up.
