I got forced into their BS timeline today.

In honor of Shark Week, we tried to watch Jaws the other night, but the lady got too freaked out. :p I had to poke fun at her a little bit... was that wrong of me?

I've never seen Jaws. Partly because I don't like going into the ocean unless it's clear blue anyway and partly because I'm just movie deprived.

The rectangular, predominantly symmetrical nature of most smartphones means if you're not looking, you might find you're holding the handset the wrong way around when a call comes in. Google's most recently awarded patent may seek to end your orientation confusion by adding a microphone and speaker at both ends of the device. That way, when you pick it up to answer a call, it'll determine which way you're holding it and select the microphone and speaker accordingly.
No.

Dear god, no.

In the first place, I am pretty sure that we'd all notice if the writing were upside down when deciding to answer that long call from Aunt Fanny.

In the second place, aesthetics everywhere used to standing on their heads in meditation and calling Aunt Fanny back to fight the boredom while the blood rushes to their brains are not going to be happy with this at all.

This is one of the worst answers to a question that no one's asked that I've ever seen.

BTW - if there are people that can't tell which end of the phone is up - leave them be. The world is better off not hearing them.

Honest.

Lol on that google upside down phone thing. Wouldn't you then start hearing people's hair brushing up against the ear microphone?

I am sure the orientation / sensor (accelerometer) will see to that not happening.

I think its kind of cool and a way for google to avoid (albeit temporarily) the wrath of the bad apples

To be fair, both my devices now (Nexus 7, GNex) are completely gloss black with no clear identifying features. I have a few times picked up my phone and held it upside down. However I do agree that this is not an issue that I would want Google wasting resources on, as most likely it will only be Nexus devices that don't have manufacturer or carrier branding to identify "This way up"

P.S. All will be forgiven if Apple rolls out this feature on the new iPhone, and Google sues the pants off them though ;)

Morning all!

So, quick question that somebody here may or may not know. Is there a way to pair your Nexus 7 and your GNex in order to take calls on your Nexus 7? Back when I bought the HP Touchpad on the firesale, I noticed it had that feature. The reason for asking is this would be awesome for those wanting to integrate the Nexus 7 into their car as their sole infotainment center.

Good morning all - happy hump day! Guess I didn't sleep well last night because I cannot stop yawning this morning.

Got swept last night in bowling league, which sucks. BUT next week is the last week of bowling and we are now tied for first place and will be playing the second place team for the championship. Whoever wins more points takes it all home so its pretty exciting.

Do you know what EVERYONE was doing in 1974?

Kung-fu fighting.

any guy that wears skinny jeans should be shot.

I wear straight leg skinnier jeans. I don't like baggy or boot cut jeans. They just fit better.

Dear flash.

buh bye.

Congrats on 1K AJ. The first 1,000 are the hardest.

Honestly, I often pick up my N7 upside down as the centered front facing camera clicks in my head as the LED on my GNex:rolleyes:

According to a saftey for the Minnesota Vikings if you touch Adrian Peterson during practice you're cut from the team. Peterson is back after 7 1/2 months from surgery to reconstruct his left knee. Maybe he is exaggerating, but I'm sure the big wigs wouldn't be happy if you hit him.

And speaking of injuries. Why would they want NFL players playing Olympic football? What team would want to lose their star player because of that? I don't even think that American football should be in the Olympics.

Haha, I need to start ramping up my following of the Vikings, as they are my team. :)

Hey Stigy (and any other dSLR owners). Have you tried Chainfire's DSLR controller yet?? I tried it out this weekend with the Perseids and really liked it. It's a little buggy right now, but the functionality is amazing.

My camera is too old to support it.
