Any VZW Gnex users in here?

Anyone on Verizon that came from a Galaxy Nexus that can comment on signal strength of the S3? My nexus still can't come close to Motorola or even HTC signal strength. It's a bit disappointing having a powerful phone that has its legs cut out from under it due to no data. I just wanted to see if the s3 radios were improved or if they basically got the gnex radios put over in them too. Thanks guys.

Thanks for the reply Treb. I've been reading through that thread. So those who switched, are you happy you did it? Did any of you give up your unlimited data? I can upgrade now, and my poor Gnex is really sick. So I have the choice of paying for the $100 insurance replacement and holding my upgrade for later, never upgrading and paying full price for a future Nexus phone, or upgrading now, losing my unlimited data, and selling my insurance replacement phone to cover the cost of an upgrade.

Advice?

I have both phones and i think the reception is very similar but i never had a problem with either of them. I do notice that the galaxy s 3 gets faster 4g speeds in the same spot.

I had the gnex on Verizon since initial release. I can gladly say that the S3 is far superior when it comes to signal strength, battery life, camera quality and overall interface.

in my personal experience, having a very close friend with a VZW GNex...when we are together my phone ALWAYS has better reception...

however i have no confidence when comparing my phone to anything made by Motorola when it comes to reception

I think that the Gnex is a phenomenal phone, but I work in a fringe area, and it has been very frustrating over the past several months. Especially since my work phone is a Razr Maxx. I just don't' know if I can give up my unlimited data for anything that is less than stellar in that department. I appreciate the opinions above. I am amazed by the large gaps in opinions, but then again, that seems to be the case with any phone I have ever owned.

Unlocked bootloader now? Damnit! I was completely content with staying with the Gnex for the forseeable future. And, I read news that many replacement phones are shipping with a crappy update that causes call drops, etc. Ok, I know that a custom JB ROM would go on the phone almost immediately, but stuff like that just isn't helping to get rid of the new phone fever.

I think that's because everyone is reporting from different location. In good to strong signal areas, there is not so much difference between two. But in weak areas, GS3 does much better on signal reception especially holding 4G. Also it switches radios faster and is much better at not dropping data randomly like Gnex.
