Is there a good 4G toggle for the GS3???

BIG CAT 7

Android Enthusiast
I used a toggle for my Razr Maxx and would like to know if there is a good toggle for the 4G on the GS3?

Any help/Suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

When I first got my S3 I tried using LTE On/Off for the Thunderbolt(it worked fine on my Thunderbolt and my Razr and Razr Maxx) and it worked the first day, now when I try to open it it force closes.

I'm looking for a good app myself

Yeah that was the one I used for my Maxx as well. I would like to find one if someone has run into a good one on here...

I also tried 4G Toggle on the S3 and it doesn't do anything either. It doesn't appear that 4G can be manually shut off on the S3 even through the menus. On a daily basis this isn't an issue for me because I generally keep it on 4G. But sometimes I shut it off if I'm in a non 4g area so my battery doesn't drain.

Yeah i'm sure there is one out there that will work for the GS3. Just have to find it. I looked through a handful in the playstore and can't see any reviews where a person with a GS3 had it work successfully.

I get my phone tomorrow and wanted to try to find one. Wherever I am mostly I use wifi but sometimes I am in a real back and forth area (3g/4g) and like you said it taxes the hell out of your battery..

I was using LTE Switch on my TB & I haven't found anything in the playstore that's works on my SGS3 yet.I've had my S3 for a week now & I love it but i would like to find a 3/4g toggle for it to save battery life.Any developers out there that can come out with an app for the S3 ?:mad::confused:

Don't know of any good toggles, but this app works pretty well https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=myc.phone.PhoneInfo&feature=nav_result#?t=W10.

Under Device Information you can change it from "LTE/CDMA?EVDo" which is 4G to CDMA auto (PRL) for 3G

Hope this helps

Will it switch back though? I used that for my Maxx and once I switched to 3g and tried go back to 4g it wouldn't allow me too. I can go in and switch it but nothing changed.

It would be sweet if a developer could make one specifically for the S3, there seems to be a big enough following developer wise.

I just tried it and the phone is able to switch back to 4g from 3g!

I only turn 4g off when I'm in a spotty or no 4g area. Other then that its always on. I can easily get through a full 12hr night at work and still have battery left when I go home, However my part-time job I get no 4g and the battery drains crazy fast so I usually shut the 4g off there so its not searching and killing the battery more then it has to.

Wontswitch for me .. When i goto gsm only under phne nfo it says gsm is active for emergency calls only way i get data is to have 4g on :(. Telus canada i747m gsm/hspa/lte

here's a good one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tojc.ShowServiceMode

free version from the developer's site can be grabbed here (site is in japanese, but the app itself is in english):
https://github.com/jakenjarvis/ShowServiceMode-For-Galaxy-LTE/downloads

This get's you into the ServiceMode of the phone quickly (where as u need to enter *#197328640# to the dialer, then another key to disable the LTE 1187226 or enbable 118721).

The Phone Info app is simple and fine, but as soon as you disconnect mobile data and reconnect, u're back on 4G, so if u're using a batter saver that does this, u're screwed.

Going from the service mode will keep you on 3G until you re-enable it from the service mode, or reboot your phone.

on top of this i used a batter save app to control how often my mobile data connects, so i can go all day long and barely use 50% of my phone battery on the S3 with moderate use.
