Root Stuck in recovery

Leslie Ann

Android Expert
I'm not sure what happened...

The phone is stuck in recovery mode.
Every option leads to the open box and Android and just sits. Pressing the power button long brings it back to recovery.

It shows an error regarding cache and the update, cache cannot be wiped.
A status 7 error, saying no valid image.
and no valid image on sdcard.

When plugged into the system, I see two drives, however I cannot access them.No modems, no ports... ADB cannot see the phone, neither can LGNPST.

Any help would be appreciated.
I'm giving seriously thought to just go grab her a One V ($150 @ Radio Shack) and be done with this.

Does computer see it in download mode? If so can you try using the memory debug app in qpst and click the reset phone button. This got me out of a recovery loop one time. Not sure I was getting the other errors you are getting

unplug phone, reinstall original lg drivers, reboot pc,boot phone into recovery mode, plug in device and then start jcase root method. it should show the phone up in standby mode. should be able to recover the device from there. has worked for me several times. hope it helps.

I reinstalled, removed, rebooted, then reinstalled again, same thing. The phone will not show ports. ADB, QPST, LGPST nothing sees the phone because it will show up in ports.

Booting the phone in any manner results in recovery mode. Any selection in recovery leads to the empty box and Android.

Stupid updates...
LG will need to make some changes before I consider another. The OV was great, and this had lots of potential, but not with what they did to it (locking it down and the update wrecking it).

I am still going to try and fix it, but I went and got her a One V. That was always the plan anyway. This phone was a way for her to test the waters with Android (she was still on my old Blackberry before this).

Interesting... could it be hardware or you think it's software?

How's the One V... was actually thinking about selling my Elite and getting it. Not sure of tall narrow shape and lip at bottom.

sounds like to me the lg download failed and still prompted for install. with virgin mobile network speed and connectivity issues in many areas as of late,i don't doubt it one bit. their network has been pure garbage in the southeast. constant loss of connection, download failures, everything under the sun. i like the phone, would be great if the network would quit failing. as for the recovery issue and lg locking the phone down...what can you say? more or less a lemon buy for me. im just trying to get by until an opportunity and a deal opens itself for moving to straight talk. i don't care what anyone says about them limiting data. they offer unlimited calling WITH 411 service, data and text all for $45. virgin mobile doesn't even try to compete with that plan. time will tell the tale of the optimus elite.

Noo! Clockwork mod is almost here, and the custom ROMs will follow :( c'mon, it would be a shame for you to be with us this far and not get to see the good part :(

It's software.

The One V is pretty darn nice. If I didn't have the Evo V, it would be my choice of phone (for VM). It's narrowness is the new norm. As for the lip, it's not quite as tall as it seems, the screen steps down a bit before curving up. I don't like it, but it's not as bad as it seems in pics.

The battery isn't replaceable, kind of a bummer, but you can get a dock for it as well as recoveries and roms.

That is what it did, but there should be a way to bypass or recover from it. Ridiculous that there isn't.

Straight Talk would block me the first time I needed tether. I only tether at
jobs where they have no broadband. Download an antivirus update or malware tool or two and suddenly I'm close to losing my account. Not a workable solution for me.

Even if I can't fix the Elite, I have all I need to make a few roms that are needed. I have stock, Aeneas, Rhode and Harmonia pretty well sorted for it.

Glad I'm not the only one strolling over to the V section every now and then...:)

It's funny though, I don't know if I even want to put a custom rom on my Elite. I really am enjoying the stock software as it is. I do miss the ability to use volume buttons to change songs as I did hook my phone to my stereo often. Otherwise I've got an app that just about replaces every other CM7 addition.
