Root [Q] 4G

Is there anything like a flashable zip to enhance 4gs connection. I live in the city and mine isn't that good. And not much faster than 3g. Currently on mean Rom 2.6

Anthrax-Kernel has lots of modifications to improve WIMAX(4G). I finally connected to 4G for the first time yesterday & got 3.5 Mbps downloads compared to 350 kbps average on 3G. I use Anthrax-Kernels with MeanROM v2.6.

at my college i get a strong 4g signal and i average around 7-8 mbps but thats pretty much the only place i receive it at.. it'll also probably take like 2 decades for them to expand it unfortunately

It all depends on tower load.

If you are in an area with a lot of Clearwire subscribers, 4g can get pretty slow.

Kinda forgot about that lol I live in a fairly populated area but I've noticed more people have at&t or Verizon and not sprint so that probably helps quite a bit, sry if I seemed rude or anything...how's development lately? Been workin on anything? Or enjoying our downgraded hboots?

I live in Boston and I get really fast 4G, but the signal of the 4G sucks in the end. Even though its fast when you first turn it on, if I leave it on too long eventually I stop getting texts and data stops working (after some hours) and then I need to go back to 3G and I get a flood of texts/etc. like my phone had been off.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha you wish Wimax is dead and won't get expanded that's why we have it for prepaid

No worries.
No dev work, just work.

yeah, i do wish.. :P

what makes that statement even more true is that the place im in is a protection site so they really had no original intention of bringing it here in the first place... :/

a wimax cell booster would probably be a good investment for you. the issue with wimax is its high frequency. this is why it is basically worthless inside, as the higher the frequency, the harder it is for it to pass through objects. a proper booster with an antenna on the roof or somewhere up high outside would definitely be an improvement. much more noticeable than something on say 800mhz.

the good news is with sprint redoing their network, the 3g towers apparently can be upgraded to lte with relative ease. as far as i understand, theyre replacing most if not all of their equipment, and the new equipment is what is easily upgradeable to lte. also, in the long term theyre going to end up recycling their bandwidth, obviously starting with 2g, but eventually will be lte sooner or later. itll be a couple years probably, but youll eventually have lte on prepaid, as itll just be more cost effective to have 1 data network. (as it is also cheaper for sprint by the mb to run lte than 3g).

i thought that sprint's network vision would be a nightmare to us because as from what I could perceive, it takes away all the 3g to lte as well as wimax and I didnt see any plans for virgin mobile moving to lte so i thought it would render the phone 100% useless without wimax/3g? O_O

Not only that, if virgin does move to lte, is the chipset in the phone software upgradable to work on the lte network? x.X

3g isnt going anywhere anytime soon, like i said its a long term thing. the nextel network and all the 2g stuff is being recycled soon though. im talking in a couple years they will start moving everything to lte i would imagine. might be more than a couple years, but what happens is they tend to first offer phones capable of using lte for a while. at a point when only a couple % of their users use the 3g network, they will tell those people to upgrade or lose service, sometimes offering them free phones. this has kind of been the method for companies to upgrade networks and recycle spectrum.
