No.

Did you look at my post? Download Elixir 2 from Google Play (it's free) and go into running processes and scroll left one to 'top'.

If you see gsiff_daemon then you've got the same problem as I did.

Unsure if you can kill it without root - however a reboot should do the job.

It's been 24 hours since I killed the process and it's not returned yet.

The reboot worked am I gonna have to do that again everyday?

shouldn't...sometimes things get funky however...you should make it a habit to at least reboot every few days...its just a nice thing to do to clear all your memory and start fresh...

these phones really do have good standby time if you're not pushing them hard...

Do I need watchdog now that I have elixir 2? And thank you Rachel you have been a tremendous help and saved me countless hours of sprint tech support.

I use Watchdog to alert me when various processes run hot.

I was rather waiting for the incident to reoccurr so I could check Watchdog out so I'm not 100% sure on it yet.

I will however update this thread if I do get hit again.

I'll also update it as an when I gleam more information as to what this process is.

So glad I was able to help you out!

I don't want to start a new thread so I'll ask here how do I connect to WiFi at McDonalds on my pc I have to go to that page and accept the terms but on my s3 it just says failed and I can't get to that red page . Is there a way to do with the proxy options

I had issue with this process as well ... Killed it ... And earlier today my s3 rebooted on its own and my battery started falling off so i checked and that process was top of the list again :(. Wtf!

You rooted? If so, you can try renaming the binary. Folk have stated that works for them with seemingly no side effects.

Not done it myself yet because I've yet to have a re occurrence.

I am rooted yes, but would need a hint on where to look and how to rename, havent had the time to learn as much yet (new android convert from ios)

I'll need to find the page I was looking at that described this problem.

I'll pop back later with a link.

Ok ... So i figured out the rename ... It hasnt come back even with a forced hotboot. Not sure what this daemon does but hopefully i dont need it. If any one renames ... Changing it to gsiff-daemon.back does nothing ...still loads.. I changed it to g-daemon.back and now it no longer loads.

Good to know, thanks!

So far from everything I'm seeing, all this bugger seems to do is consume CPU. I've not found out yet what it's real purpose is - if indeed it has a real purpose!
