Could Apple lawsuit stop the s3 from being released for MetroPCS

according to a fellow member on howardforums hes claiming that there will be 1 huge dissapointment and thats it that the processor will be a arm 7 ........... i refuse to believe that since his prototype promo phones b4 were water down just for trial and testing uses for example he had the esteem 1 month b4 it was released and it did not have the same amount of internal memory so im hoping its the same scenario with the s3. although i dont know if he actually has one in hand but he has had lots of exclusive phones b4. and if the noobs are wondering whats bad about the arm7 cpu? its the same cpu thats on the connect.....so yea..... but dont quote it we shall see.

I quoted... Well armv7 is considered a bad processor? Or is it just a lot less than expected from the s3.

All the dual cores are armv7...:p

Ah - simple confusion.

ArmV7 is an instruction set.

The other USA SGS3 models use the Qualcomm S4 dual core SoC (system on (a) chip) as the main processor.

We say that its two cores are like Arm Cortex A-15 class - but they are not Arm Cortex designs at all.

The international SGS3 uses a quad of Arm Cortex A-9 cpus.

Think of Arm like Intel, and of Qualcomm like AMD. Totally different designs but able to run the same stuff because of a common instruction set.

In Android's case, that's ArmV7 - and then the top processors add more features and extend the instruction set, so you'll also see NEON, etc etc, describing processors.

Arm licenses others to build cpus using their designs - Tegra, Samsung processors, etc - all licensed Arm Cortex architectures. Separately, they are all licensed for the instruction set, including Qualcomm.

All of the monitoring apps will come back and tell you that all of the various phones are using the same processor - ArmV7. It's a harmless lie. ;)

Hope this clarifies. :)

Are you saying we dont have anything to worry about if it indeeds comes with that? cuz leaky from howard was saying it like it was bad news and ill admit i dont know anything about mobile cpu technology i just want our s3 to be the same as all other american versions thats all.

Nope that's the processor other carriers sg3 have.

Leak simply said "IT'S A CPU ARMv7". The thread simply ran away with it as bad news because someone mentioned the Connect's processor and people started assuming they were the same processor as a result. Leak's follow up information looks a bit better.

u bastard u got me drooling.......................

what i didnt explain myself enough was i was being told over and over and over again that it was suppose to have the most high tech Qualcomm S4 dual core processor now keep in mind i dont know anything about it but people that are on at&t and tmobile tell me its the best processor yet so then i read its going to have a different cpu thats where it got me confused. earlymon explained the difference and the different terms and technology that were needed to be discussed i assure u there isnt any more questions thank you.

Samsung is not going to release an SGS3 with second rate technology.

No question about that one bit.

It might be the Qualcomm S4 dual core, it might be one of the A9 quad cores.

Benchmark bandits fight over them - one is a little faster in some ways, the other in others, in the end for a user - it's a wash - they're both great or they wouldn't be both be called SGS3 as a final product.

Either way, you're destined for some kind of happiness, that's just all there is to it. :)

Woot thanks for clearing that up!!

I hope that you cats can somehow get both the SGS3 and the HTC One X - Android is all about choice and the more choices the better, I say. :)

Competition is good for us consumers, in my opinion.

High time for the pre-paid carriers to offer the same top choices as the big-contract pushers.

Again, just my opinion, but hey - you know, yeah. ;)

And I can't wait till the big carriers start flipping out cause everyone will be leaving them, and their contracts in the dust. Samsung is paving the way for the little guys. Apple is trying to take control of every market just like Samsung. Look at all the little carriers, now they all have iPhone 4's, and 4s's. And now that this lawsuit garbage is continuing on I think we will see a lot more Samsung, HTC, and Motorola, on the little guys to take control of that market. I hope Samsung knocks it out of the park with the S3 on all the carriers, little and big alike! :D Send that half eaten apple to the compost bin! Its gotta be rotten by now! By the looks of all the suing I'd say the apple is rotten for sure!:p Just my opinion lol!

I don't see a mass exodus of customers from the big carriers just over a rather expensive phone. It is nice that Metro is eliminating one of the biggest areas of criticism but they still have to fix the others (speed and coverage) before they really start hitting the other carriers where it hurts.

Then again, I wouldn't have thought the Apple lawsuit outcome would trigger a sales rush for Samsung so I guess some crazy things do happen. Looks like Apple may have turned the S3 into even more of a big seller. :D
