That's my bet. As soon as the BOGO is over we'll move on to teaser ads... then full blown stuff leading up to the release.

When the BOGO sale ends, i think we will see the release of the Nexus One. Then after that, you will see the HTC Incredible.

According to some website with a very credible insider, the Nexus One is going to be released by the end of next week.

That's why I was being optimistic instead of saying it was a fact. I can't guarantee anything because I don't have the phone, nor do I have any VZW sources. Any info I've found and contributed has been found through google search, and the help of others on here.

Now I'm gonna brag a little. I was in the Flickr search group when we first found out that the model number was ADR6300, and we were the first ones to find evidence of a camera > 5MP.

It seems to me that the most valuable evidence comes from that which can be seen such as picture resolution and data dumps. So, like I said, I don't know for sure that it's gonna get 720p video, but if you give me 3:1 odds that it won't, i'll put up some money.

Edit: At worst, let's say they did 'throttle' down the recording using an app layer....how long before the wonderful Android rooting community would unlock it? Having the capability onboard is in itself a big win.

Agreed, all points. The codecs register themselves with their range parms, but the app may choose to use a subset of that range. The limiting factor in this case would be if the Snapdragon GPU can save 1280x720 frames at 30fps without pinning the processor. The rendering and compression code is a heavy lift at these large frame sizes. Replay is not an issue, given the smaller replay frame size.

Also agreed that you and others here have done some outstanding work in cracking some great pre-release info on the Inc. Much appreciated!

As for release name this might give a little more weight towards a name change to something other than Incredible.

Eris's info:

1)[ro.product.model]: [Eris]
2)[ro.product.brand]: [verizon]
3)[ro.product.name]: [htc_desirec]
4)[ro.product.device]: [desirec]
5)[ro.product.board]: [desirec]

Incredible's info:

1)ro.product.model=ADR6300
2)ro.product.brand=verizon
3)ro.product.name=inc
4)ro.product.device=inc
5)ro.product.board=inc

So it looks like they're using the ADR6300 as the placeholder for the actual name, and it will always will be known in code as the incredible, but will release with a different name. Just like the Eris will always be known in its source code as the desire.

Wood, I gotta hand it to ya; I believe this bears repeating, but this is truly the "Find of the Weekend" in my book! This is really, really exciting stuff to me!! It tells me two significant things:

1) The release date is getting close! With Verizon & HTC now using the ADR6300 number as the placeholder, I have GOT TO believe that we're on the cusp of something big! I think that next week is pivotal! We're getting too close to other devices becoming more widely known, namely the Moto Shadow, the recently released Evo is going to be gaining steam and awareness, and Apple has their 2010 iPhone version coming out this summer.

2) I am hella-anxious to find out what the release name will be! From the looks of what Wood has found, and based on what HTC and Big Red did with the Eris, it is increasingly doubtful in my mind that it will still be called the Incredible upon release! Sure makes for some fun speculation! Thanks again, Wood!!!

I've always wondered what exactly determines the cameras ability to capture high def. Is it really up to the processor being able to process the amount of data sent by the sensor which limits the video recording capability, or is it more based on the sensor's capabilities to capture fast enough?

Since Verizon wireless made an appearance in Iron Man 1 and Iron Man 2 to hit the theaters may 7th what are the chances Robert Downey Jr. is sporting an incredible in Ironman 2. Just bored with lack of new info.

I suggested that some time back (maybe 300 pages?) and the members here were quick to point out that LG is sponsoring the movie... so it's unlikely. But I liked the idea, especially when the phone had a red back :D

According to some website? Can we get an address?

Exactly! Everything that I have heard (kcoan might have said it as well, I know someone here did) points to VZW as getting the Incredible first. But that's just my $.03 (adjusting for inflation).

I guess my question accidentally mis lead what I was looking for. Okay, forget BB. If there is an April release date, couldn't we expect an Incredible announcement soon, or might they just drop it one day with no prior notice?

Its both.
- The sensor sets the absolute resolution. You can't get 720 lines from a 480 line sensor.
- Given a 720 line sensor, the processor needs to be able to handle the frames at the required frame rate. That's easy enough in the video camera case because the camera processor has nothing else to do. Its a different story for a phone, which needs a good slice of processor cycles reserved for task management/basic operations/display handling/radio/etc.

Its a given that the Android OS guys are working hard on performance gains with every release. The more efficient the OS becomes, the more CPU becomes available for apps like video.

Hell, even the Droid had a placeholder name just before it was released! Anyone remember it? No? It was based off of an acronym. I'll refresh you guys...

Rumor: Verizon Nexus One Release Date Is Sometime Next Week – SoftSailor

Don't exactly know how credible it is. But the author says their source has never failed them so far with information on release dates.

I honestly can believe almost anything as of now, im just dying for a good phone to come from Verizon soon. If this is true, im jumping on it and ordering the phone.

I really hope this site and their source is right though.

Also, apparently, the whole Nexus One on googles website popping up for sale. Supposedly, the for sale thing popped up before the phone was released for T-mobile i think when it was first released. Then it reappeared shortly later when it was officially released. I think this is a good indicator that it is coming really soon to Verizon.

I heard that the next version of android is going to be very nice. They said it's going to be at least as big a step as 1.6 to 2.0 was. I hope it leaks soon :)
