***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

Even if the VZW Nexus One becomes available next week, I'm waiting for the Incredible. I've just read too many stories of cracked screens on the N1, without even dropping the phone or sitting on it. I keep my phone in my pocket when I'm on the go and that seems to be the common element in the N1 screen cracking. What scares me is that I've heard the Incredible uses the same screen, but I've also heard the Incredible is a bit thicker so maybe that will prevent weird flexing/tension from cracking the screen.

Bottom line: your N1 screen cracks, you have to ship it back to HTC. Hope you don't need to use your phone in the meantime. Your Incredible screen cracks, you hop in the car and head to the Verizon store.
 
Don't worry about the Moto Shadow. It's a sick looking phone, probably one of the hottest phones i've seen even though its a render. But i doubt it will be coming anytime soon. If anything, atleast Fall. Basically, i think it will be released atleast one year after the DROID was released.

That is the same EXACT reason i'm gonna hold out for the incredible. I wish it had the gorilla glass the droid uses, but w.e ... if the screen is crap, i just want to be able to drive over to verizon and get another one

It just went through the FCC last week and you don't think it's coming out til the fall? I still think the Droid 2 will come out in the fall and the Shadow will come out in the Summer.

But I'm still getting the Incredible if it comes first.
 
oh shit it's getting heated up i'm getting antsy, i even started looking at other phones but nothing looks good(for Verizon and sprint), if the nexus one comes out first i might have to get that because of when my contract ends(with my mother(getting own phone,etc))

I saw this on the facebook page
"We're looking at an April 13th or 20th release date. Training takes place next week in Verizon stores. Stores have begun receiving training units."

haha, didn't read about the FCC for the shadow. Well then, i guess we can still go by that rumored summer release date for the Moto Shadow then.
 
I need to get a phone before April 4th/3rd so things are looking really slim for me right now.

Worst comes worst, i'll pick up a Droid and then trade it in before the 30 day thing.
 
Setting up Ubuntu on Virtualbox is a HUGE PITA. I could have swapped hard drives installed ubuntu fresh faster. Which I might end up doing. well might as well as it is slow in here need to get ready for Incredible release. I kinda feel like the Swedish Chef

Well a Motorola phone with a 1500mAh battery with CDMA Verizon frequencies went through so I'm guessing it's the Shadow.

Normally, I would just say screw it and pay the ETF, but there is another situation behind the story and I have an upgrade attached to my phone number / account that isn't mine to use.

I hope I've explained this well enough for one of you VZW guys to help me out. I would post this in the verizon forums, but I have a hard time believing that I will get any true answers there and you guys are all techies like me so I figured my best route was here.....sorry for being off topic mods and admins. If you want to reply to this by sending me a pm instead of in this thread that's understandable, I forget which of you work in VZW stores.

You weren't told wrong. You can't do what you are wanting to do. In order to get a BOGO you must have two lines eligible to upgrade or be adding two lines or upgrading one and adding one. It sounds like you understand that part.

What you're trying to do is basically false churn. The only way to pay an ETF on a line is to totally cancel the service. You can't just pay an ETF to get out of contract but still keep the service. It doesn't work like that. You pay the ETF you are canceling the line totally. You would then have to start a new line of service and would get a new phone number. There is no way to get your old number. This scenario really isn't possible anyway because this would be false churn. When you cancel a line and then come back within 30 days you are supposed to pick up where you left off. Your ETF would be refunded and your old service resumed, still not being eligible for an upgrade. The only way to do your BOGO would be to start a brand new line of service with a brand new number. You could then cancel your old service but again, you're not going to get your old number. Hopefully this all makes sense. You weren't screwed, they were right. What you want is not possible.

Biggest PITA is that you can not D/l the kitchen or the leaked rom or basicly anything else till it is installed. So what apps or mods is everyone thinking of doing when they get the incredible in there hands

people have every right to say iwhatever they please so long as they arent breaking any rules, so its not really your place to tell people not to participate in the forum. he is a big boy im sure he can handle it on his own.

He's talking about the posts that do nothing but say "Liar". If you don't believe it fine. If you have some info that says otherwise, let us know. If all you have to say, is you're full of it, it doesn't add anything, and is better left unsaid.

Ruben, I am not about to flame the guy - it's just that his info is not new, it's a bit on the vague side, and he doesn't list his sources. Yes, he covered his bases on the timeframe - I mean, from all accounts, that week-long window fits just about everyone's else's sources timeframe quite nicely. NKT - whom I consider to be the best source in here - had predicted April 17th weeks ago. The phone can therefore land anywhere in the vicinity of that date and Tyler will smell like a rose. It's not news to us. I just think that credit should go where credit is due and if it IS released in that timeframe, I think most of us will look back at NKT's account. I hope the kid's sources are right though. I really do! It gives us yet another hope for mid-April! Now had Tyler's sources given him a definitive set-in-stone release date, THAT would be amazing for everyone in here! I think it's very safe to say that all of us in here have heard multiple release dates ad nauseam, with "mid April" being at the top of the list, currently.

Tyler's input has always been good, and I appreciate what he has to say. We're all on the same side here - we all want the same thing. It's not a competition to see who can name the release "window." The competition should be who can name the exact release date! :) ;)
 
My new plan..........get a DROID sometime this week. Wait and hopefully find out the HTC Incredible is released soon after. Return the DROID within 30 days. Get the HTC Incredible, problem solved, win win situation, leave happy.

I have a question though, will i be charged like double for the data plan? like $30 for the DROID and then when i return it i have to pay $30 again for the HTC Incredible data?
