Hearing two stories if hotspot is included in $55 unlimited plan.

A guy in a MetroPC store, told me that hotspot was included in the $55 unlimited plan.

I went to activate ordered online phone with *228, and was told that the I'd have to pay $10 extra a month for the tethering ability.

The guy in the store sounded much more like he knew what he was talking about, the *228 lady sounded like she was without knowledge, but on the otherhand *228 seems more *official*.

I decided to wait and did not activate at $65 a month.

Well he's wrong Hotspot is an extra $10 only available on the $50 $60 plans

And no hotspot, is available on the $55 unlimited plan??

if so, I hope this phone is rooted and qstp instructions out before its due to be returned for a refund.

No because it's unlimited and they are not crazy to offer that on unlimited plans imagine that only available on the $50 and? 60 plans

crazy
??
I thought that it would be like placing Apple stories in the most expensive parts of town. The thought leaders would purchase. Oh well, still ghetoPCs.

I think this phone is being sold with nearly false promises such as a rebate, and hotspot, but to push sales up for the corporation as window dressing for the balance sheet before the company or spectrum without company is sold to ATT. With that idea, the sale make sense.

These moronic people working at these metro stores are a piece of work.

They don't know anything.

Some..not all...

Every carrier has people working in their stores that have no clue what they are talking about.

I fortunately read up and learn about things I sell...

Hotspots is only available on the 50 and 60 plans. Theres no point on the 40$ plan, and it would be stupid to offer it on the unlimited plans. Metro works on 5mhz of spectrum in in places and if they offered it on unlimited it would kill their network.

Its a good phone, at a good price, with unlimited everything at $55 bucks. Are you really being that cheap to whine about having to spend a whopping 10 bucks for tether? You could always go to Verizon or Sprint and pay more than double that 65 per month..

Nothing is ever enough for some people

I am on the 55 dollar plan. I pay $60 a month for my line. Saved the 5 due to the family plan, $10 for tethering. I don't know why you guys are being told no, when my dealer (wireless toyz) added tether to my plan.

all i know is you cant get it on the website.its not a big deal since the work around only takes 5 minutes but i would still rather just pay for it since i already had my data banned on t mobile not long ago.

I am whining about getting different information from different people at Metro. And I am concerned, because the rebate fiasco makes it appear that misinformation is being used as a business strategy.

More to the point though, the responses here are saying that I can not add tethering on the $55 plan.

Finally, if I'm cheap to care about $10 a month, isn't metropc even more cheap to care about $10 a month when its a million dollar company?

You have the $60 plan with a $5 discount because of the family plan. It has a 5GB limit for 4G usage.

The new $55 plan has unlimited 4G, but they will not allow the tethering/hotspot feature to be added to it.

They are not allowing this to be added to any unlimited 4G plan, not even the $70 plan with the unlimited video blah blah, only the $50 (2.5GB 4G limit) and the $60 (5GB 4G limit). :smokingsomb:

news to me, not even an option when selecting the 55 plan in my system.

I would check and make sure you were not put on the metered plan with tethering added.

It won't let me quote you so..

@peace3314:

I think I would know what plan I have lol, I do pay the bill after all, and I'm not an idiot.. I have the $55 dollar unlimited plan, I do not have the 5 gig plan.

Before I bought the motion I had my connect on the grandfathered $60 unlimited plan with rhapsody (ya know, before they upped the price to 70). When I bought the motion I asked if I could switch to the $55 unlimited promo plan. They switched me, and added tether for $10.

I have two phones on my account. My line breaks down like this..

$55 unlimited promo plan + $10 tether = $65. Save $5 from having multiple lines = $60.

I did check, as soon as I got home. I held on to my grandfathered plan for a long time and wanted to make sure I didn't screw myself over by changing the plan and having missed any catches.

If the shoe doesn't fit you don't have to wear it.

I don't see the difference in tethering to your computer to watch YouTube and watching YouTube on your phone.

Isn't data..data?

Ok guys...let's try to be a little nicer to each other and understand that some people may have different situations than other people. Sometimes customer service can enable certain features or plans that are not currently available through a website via customer retention. Even if that isn't the case here, there are always exceptions to the rule.

Also, let's not evade the language filter.

Lastly, OP, I would recommend you complain to customer service that you were mislead. They may be able to give you a discount on your bill or something similar.

Could you please post that 5min workaround? Thanks

Install a user agent switcher add on for chrome(I used the first one)
Install uareader from the market
Open it and send the info to your email.
copy the user agent then paste in the the user agent switcher for chrome
Enjoy but I only use it with pdanet imnot sure if it works with the built in USB tether or the WiFi hotspot

Well, I got mine today and the rep said I had wifi hotspot and I have the 55$ plan and I have the option let my friend do it earlier. It works fine and the app is in my menu. As for tethering I can tether any phone with firefox and a user agent switcher addon for free.

I pay 55 a month and i tether a gig last month and they didnt charge me or slow down my network for me so i guess its included in the 55 dollar plan
