Root rooting misshap

linktrek

Newbie
I just bought this Connect from Metro for $300. I know very little about the insides of a phone but due to the fact that the battery consumption was so bad, I dicided to root the phone. Something went wrong during the process and when I try to factory reset the phone from the menu, When the phone tries to reset I believe the CWM files must be corrupt because it reboots right back to the system reset menu. Is there hope? Is there a way to flash a new rom in?
Again, I am an unschooled newbie to phones so the less complex your answer is, the better off it will be

Actually I am assuming that cwm package was changed while rooting the phone. It might be noted that I don't know what cwm files are. I am just seeing the cwm failing to restore
the phone to working condition. I don't nessarily want the phone to be facotry reset. I'm only concerned with getting the phone working again. But I am pretty sure that those cwm
files were overwritten during the rooting process.

Turn on holding Power and Volume Down
Go to Advanced
Mount SD Card With Phone (Or use a MicroSD card adapter)
Put Broken Out ROM on it / Black Plague (Recommend Broken Out ROM)
Put your SD card in your phone / Unmount the phone
Install From SD Card
Select the ZIP package of the ROM
Go Down and click Yes
Installing
Done
Reboot
Test
If fail , Tell me
If you want stock , I tried the stock ROMs in "All Thinks Root" and it does not work at all , It is a waste of time , Try the LG Mobile Update Tool from LG's phone website page

I'm sorry but I am not familiar with any of the terms you used. Is "Broken Out Rom" the name of a rom or a term. Black Plague sounds like the name of a rom. I know at this point you want me to put a rom on the sd card. Do these roms com in zip format because I see a menu asking for a zip file from the sd card????
And where can I find these roms? Please bear in mind that I am a newbie and I am learning as I go. Nothing is familiar to me.

It failed. You wanted me to tell you that.

I'm a noob myself, so I won't be much help to you. What I think Toke is asking is what happens when you hold down the power button & volume down at the same time while the phone is shut off? I think that should put you into recovery. Hopefully.

No furthur progression? Then you should Hold Volume keys and connect USB cable , Assuming you have the LG Connect drivers on your laptop/PC then it will have a yellow sign with a "!" and it will be in download mode , if you can't do that then I have other methods.... I had to do it to a guys HTC sensation and other androids who tried to ROM and root and failed , I done it alot and it just takes a few different trys , so try what I said and tell me any changes or anything , if you can / know , use system commands to try to turn on your phone from USB , search on google for that and you might be able to turn it on and then , install a launcher using commands and then finally use it atleast , I did it 3 times on gingerbread and once on a ICS device , I ussually find the info on AF or on Android Police or some website like that

He is right.

I wouldn't put the phone into download mode (volume keys and plug in USB) that's pretty much useless...

Check your pm box.

Pull out your battery for a couple seconds and put it back in.

Plug the phone into a wall charger.

Do the lights flash? If so want about two to five minutes until they stop.

Hold the volume down button and press the power button.

Do not release volume until you get to a screen with options on it.

If it doesn't say clockworkmod at the top then choose "factory reset"

If the same screen shows again select "factory reset" again

You should boot to clockworkmod

Choose "advanced" and wipe dalvik cache

Press back

select "install from sd"

Choose that broken out Rom you downloaded.

After that runs reboot system.

If that doesn't work then check your pm and hit me up on Gtalk or Skype.

I tried reaching you on skype ... I sent my ID per PM ... approve me and perhaps you can help. It looks rather greem. The phone is lifeless.

Dnt wrry or panic, everyone in this forum is very helpful and I'm sure we will do everything we can to get your phone going again : ) keep us posted.

Same happened to my Samsung Admire , but in the forum you will find even more people who can help you , There is a "untraditional method" my friend used at a store with a guys phone that was lifeless , He used a High Voltage Power Pack and it basicly is tons of volts that "charge the phone" but it actually turned on and it and that was his last resort , since it can damage the battery life , MetroPCS sells one from motorola but it is not a High Voltage one , My friend got his off of ebay for $39 off some Trusted Seller , If you go to a metro store , they might have the same device they use at some sprint stores , It connects to the 3 little pricks that transfer electricity , You know the 3 little yellow things that fit into place with the battery ,

They use a device that connects to the 3 little pricks like a tiny box , and it turns on the phone and says the name and model on the phone screen , and it says "Press the power button to successfully reboot your phone" and it ussually saves alot of peoples LG Vipers and stuff!

It ussualy named "Emergency Reboot System Tool" but it can be bought for $9 on ebay , ussually!

Ok just saying and Shatterproof it right once again , also I am almost always online , on vacation and on work ussualy , since Verizon gets like no customers anymore only a few but we were full for the SGS III , that day I felt like "OMG"
