Will the S3 support 4g in the UK?

Here is the speed test on my phone from...

My H+ connection (which I have all the time):

I would be happy with that, is there any way of finding out where in the country HSPAP is available and plans for the future ?

Your networks website should have that information. I'm on T-Mobile and live right next to the phone mast (literally) so I always have full HSPAP signal.

Here's the kicker about 4G. What was listed above about 100M is true, but there was a big old battle about the term 4G between the ITU and wireless carriers. Hence why they can call existing services 4G even though WiMax and LTE aren't really 4G (ITU caved).

HSPA+ now also "qualifies" for 4G, hence why AT&T can claim the largest 4G network, and why Verizon claims the largest 4G LTE network (at&t's lte coverage is tiny).

As for the quad core tegra and the Samsung chips, they had issues with the lte radio chipsets from what I recall. But from my readings the Tegra 3 is claimed to be working with LTE radios now, and theres suppose to be a new HTC One X coming that will support LTE (though I don't know much more than what my readings say so I don't know the truth about that).

But anyhow, with the new marketing "language", HSPA+ fits as a 4G and comes pretty close to the LTE speeds some carriers have.

Just wanted to add that bit of info

This thread has confused me a lot.

Will the S3 work with 4G LTE in the UK via Everything Everywhere when they launch 4G?

No the I9300 (international version) won't but the new LTE international version will, it will be released within the next 2 months.

AWH SAMSUNG :killsself:

It's not such a big deal. By the time you can use LTE to the max like HSPAP it'll be time to get a new phone, and then you can get an LTE one, as practically every modern smartphone will be LTE enabled then.

I have just read this in a iphone5 v S3 shootout, have they got it wrong or are the international versions able to use LTE.

Connectivity

For the first time, Apple has brought 4G LTE to its iPhone. Users can now enjoy faster internet through 4G LTE networks. The device further has HSPA, HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 for faster connectivity. The Galaxy S3 also has advanced Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 4G LTE. But, it stands out with NFC that iPhone 5 lacks.

So have you really bothered to get a mobile phone, or do you rely on the mast transmitting the messages directly into your brain?

Sorry, I'm being facetious... I know that, if you just used the mast, you would have to absorb every single one of the rubbish messages that people send. Nobody could cope with hundreds of calls every day from those who need the world to know that they are on the train.

:-)

Haha I love living next to a mast, never got a low signal. Unfortunately I'm moving next week, only moving a few streets away but I've usually got a mixed signal when visiting family on the street next to it, hopefully being a bit closer to the mast than them will mean constant full signal :)
