I have used Task Killer off and on, but wanted to see what others are using if at all.
I like to shut down my apps after i have a whole bunch loaded up, but really do not know if this is actually just sucking my battery up just as much...
Task killers are not needed, people think they save battery when in fact they actually drain your battery more. Android automatically closes apps that are not being used and not doing anything in the background so a task killer is unnecessary.
However, if you do want to close any apps that are open in the background just hold the Home button and you will see all open apps, just slide them left or right to close them, or press "Remove All" to close all apps excluding the app you currently have open. Alternatively (as that sometimes doesn't close the apps) you can hold the Home button, press 'Task Manager' , go to the 'Active Applications' and you will see all running apps, just press 'End' to close a single app or 'End All' to close them all
