Rumor: Android 2.1 for samsung moment is on the 31th

Oh i agree. And this update is supposed to be available via their website. So you can download it onto your computer and upgrade from home.
 
Lol, the at-home upgrade won't be available a good 2 weeks or more AFTER the update is available everywhere. Basically, take the official release date, tack on at least 10 days for it to be everywhere, then tacl another 14 or so onto that.

Nah, I would be kind of suprised if they did it that way again, the CL14 update I can see why they did it that way, since they didn't have the at home software working yet, but they didn't want to wait any longer on getting the update out... now that they have the software to do it already made I don't see why they wouldn't just use it right away.

Besides, if anything by that time I'm sure something will be leaked that we would just be able to do it ourselves.

I would guess that he didn't crack because he couldn't crack. He may have no idea when it's coming. And as for the big meeting that they have been talking about... have they ever done this for a software update before?
 
Actually preventing a mad dash to the stores to get your only 2 droid phones updated sounds pretty smart to me. I feel better knowing that the incompetent people running the updates will be doing it slowly rather than just flash and send...

And honestly, it's not even that bad with 1.5 on there once you get... Wait, hang on, gotta reset, Airplane Mode is stuck again... lol (j/k)

Now that they have the update tools in place, I would guess that the update will be OTW from the start. OTA is another story, maybe the 5th of never?

A leaked ROM image (tar based) would do it. All we need to stick it in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung Electronics\SWUpgrade\Models\Binary" and run the program and flash it. A leaker please leak the ROM or wait the 31th...
 
All jokes aside, and you can believe me or not. My sister works for the computer tech side of Sprint. Her coworker already has 2.1 on his Moment. She gonna ask him about it in the morning and get back to me.

If this is tru we will gladly explain to them how to do a system dump.. Hell i have some money saved up in the sdx account and would be willing to pay them for their time to dump the system files and possibly get a copy of the kernel...

My dog told me he heard a rumour 2.1 wasen't released on samsung FUS... but what does he know? He is an alcoholic!
 
not trying to start another rumor, but I spoke to a tech at my office who is in tune with the tech world. he has a Hero, but he said that their date of "April 9th" actually won't be until "April 26th".

he continued to say that getting to 2.1 has been a hassle for both Sprint and HTC, so they are in no rush to get it out there. apparently he said that instead of an all at once upgrade, that 2.1 would be available OTA in small segments at a time. so we wouldn't get 2.1 in one day, but over the course of a few downloads.

i'm not saying that these are hard facts, merely asking if anyone else out there has heard anything similar?
 
All I know is even if they did release, I'm still not upgrading until Numus and friends have their hands on it and it's posted on SDX. I'll take the unofficial (actual) working copy over Sprint's contribution.
 
EVERYBODY CALM DOWN,

Joe Biden has leaked that Obama has legislated the 2.1 into the Health Care Bill act to ensure all "PERSONS" are updated, covered, & satisfied.

serioulsy, It was on the bottom portion of the screen on CNN today at 3:12 eastern. As far as actual release date, the Obama & Sprint Administration is currently working on it!

 
Less than 8 shopping hours left till the next rumor.

*UPDATE* Straight from a mouth of a Sprint CDMA Lab tech.....3/31 is false. Look for update 4/9 if there are no further issues with implementation. I provide no proof so take it for what its worth to you.
 
No. I got this info from a family member that is at the corporate office in Overland Park, KS. I wasn't even suppose to leak this. Its all word of mouth with no pics or files. I didn't even ask.
 
You guys don't have 2.1 yet? It's been out for days now. I heard it from a friend. It's awesome. Comes with a free I-Phone emulator.
