Maybe we will get some positive news today. I suspect if the hands on trainings are taking place now, something will show up on Engadget, BGR, or Gizmodo very soon. Possibly today.:D

As I have said, I worked as a sales rep @ VZW until last month. We never had a hands-on device training in the four years I was there. If the device was truly special, we would take an OLT (online Training). They were usually about 10-20 Internet pages with info, and then we had to take a brief quiz to verify we had read the material.

I hope they announce it soon...

I am giving up and getting the Eris if we don't hear anything by Thursday. Hopefully it will come out within 30 days so I can return it for the Incredible. Now, if I return the Eris to get the Incredible will I have to buy it at full retail or would I get it at the new contract price? Would I lose the NE2 credit since I used it on the Eris? Sorry if you've answered this 500+ times, but I have seen vague "return it, pay $35 restocking fee, get the Incredible" answers, but not those specifics.

Also, why is everybody all of a sudden on probation?

You can exchange for the Incredible w/in 30 days of getting another device (should the Incredible be released, that is). Your NE2 still counts. You will simply pay the difference in cost between the two devices and pay a $35 restocking fee. Simple.

Does this apply to everyone or do managers and tech reps get hands on training while the sales reps only get the online training?

I'm not sure how much this relates, but I used to work at Sears in Lawn and Garden. I was a sales representative...

For training, the MOST of it was done on the computer. Now obviously we would train with merchandise on the floor, but my store was smaller and we didn't carry everything in store PLUS a lot of the time we would get training before the seasons started so the merchandise wouldn't be shipped yet.

My point is, I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a lot of "hands on" type training until right up before the release and after the release. I would expect to see more online type training.

That is just my guess, VZW could be COMPLETELY different. I just want to keep this release positive! ;)

Just wanted to add my small contribution to help the cause...Finally got a "non-denial" of the Incredible's existence in the Richmond, VA area. For the last month or so, Every store in the Metro area adamantly denied any knowledge of this device, but last nite 2 of those same stores (non-sales reps btw) actually offered "We're not able to discuss future devices at this time" responses.
~take it for what it's worth.

I know positively it applies for ALL retail store staff as well as retail district sales managers. As for others in the company, idk.

But as I said last night, VZW does have select ppl in the co. that test new devices, trainers, and corporate types. These are small in #, and the most trusted people in the company. I have never known a retail employee of any kind test a device.

The devices usually arrive in the store less than a week prior to launch. Usually about that time we would be told we have an OLT to complete.

As I said last night, retail store reps are often the last to find out about new devices, the Internet knows first. It is, however, strictly prohibited to discuss a device that has not been released. Telling a customer to wait till a new unreleased device comes out will get you a right up. Telling a customer details on an unreleased device will get you fired. -VZW employee till last month

Visited my local (corporate) store in La Grange, IL (western suburbs of Chicago) last night. I'd talked with the manager before about the Incredible, but that was a month ago before he even had any info, but he knew about all the rumors. Yesterday I asked him again and he said it appears in their computer when they search "incredible," but without any info - they're only able to look up ESN numbers, I think. This has been reported before, but it's nice to know that it's spreading... I'm thinking mid-to-late-April availability sounds quite reasonable :-D

I think a lot of the members of this thread share my view that I couldn't care less about a VZW iPhone. ;)

The iPhone is going to be a big seller for VZW and it only makes sense that they space out release of a killer Android device and the iPhone. Assuming they release the iPhone in July/August, VZW would have to release the Incredible in April to give both devices some breathing room.

They would if they want to compete with AT&T.

A VZW iPhone doesn't look to be coming until atleast December. Manufacturing starting in September.

Do you ever notice that when a flight gets delayed that folks get real irritated until the learn that the delay is for a mechanical problem. Then MOST are okay with the delay as we don't want take off and then plummet to our demise. What if VZ intended on launching at CTIA but a "mechanical problem" kept that from happening. If that's the case, hold it until its working right. I'd rather be on pins and needles now than pissed off later when we have to jump through hoops to get our phones in proper working order. If that's not the case, COME ON!! REALLY!! WHERE IS THIS THING!!

My $0.01 (can't afford the other penny, dang economy)

Longtime Lurker, First Time Poster.

All the talk yesterday about the phone being spotted in the store got me excited. I figured I would do my part and head over to my local Verizon Wireless store (at NorthPoint Mall in Alpharetta GA), and see what they have to say over there.

There must have been 8 people standing behind the desk there, and I casually ask if they know anything about any new devices coming out. They all sort of look at each other and then look at me and very convincingly tell me they don't know anything.

I try hard not to be that dork walking in "Um, well, I have been reading in the forums and chat rooms that the mega-tron 5000 is being shipped today." but I did still mention that there had been rumors that some stores had actually gotten shipments already or devices might be showing up. Then (this was my favorite part) .. some jerk behind the desk there sort of looks down his nose and me and with a cery condescending tone says "I don't really follow this stuff that close." I can tell he'll go far with his chosen career.

Anyway, at my store there is no sign of a new HTC device as of yesterday evening. I have another store near my office in Midtown Atlanta. I'll swing by there at lunch. They're a much friendlier bunch than the snobs in Alpharetta.

Georgia gettin' represented up in here!! I'm in Gwinnett. No signs in my local store but they're non-corp. VZW - Pull the trigger already!

I have a friend that is a former VZW sales person that still has connections to our local store and is keeping an ear to the ground for me - no news as of yet, though... :o

I dont think so. I think there were enough sources saying that they would make some type of announcement for the two phones. Or it was just all in our heads

I think they held off because of the HTC Evo, seems like the most logical thing. Why announce your phone when an already better phone got announced?

Either way, i hope thats why they held off. I want this thing released SOON!!!

I like your airplane analogy, but I was delayed once for 7+ hours because of mechanical issue, but the biggest thing was the plane flew to the airport with the issue known so they took off once and landed with the problem but when it was my turn they decided they couldn't fly like that? Really?

Anyways that was WAY OT Sorry but I had to vent as I'm tired of venting about VZW not giving us any info and playing dumb about this phone we all know they have.

The good thing there is that the airline tells people the reason for the delay. I think most people are just hoping to get some type of solid info from Verizon, whether it's a release date, a reason for a delay, or whatever.

The airline has to give you a reason for the delay because it's an official flight. This phone doesn't officially exist.:o

On the side note, when would the online manuals appear? I noticed some phones (Sprint ones especially) have the manuals posted a few days/weeks before launch. They could possibly be for training or geeks such as ourselves to hold us over. It is definitely for the RTFM crowd.

The reason why the airlines tell you is because you already know the plane exists and is there, in the case of the Incredible, it hasn't been announced officially thus Verizon does not see the need to inform anyone of anything be it delays, stoppage etc.

TS out

Very true! I understand Verizon's not obligated in the least to tell us anything, but that doesn't reduce my hope that they will tell us soon! :)

IF the iPhone comes to VZW it won't be until the holiday season most likely. Possibly September, but doubtful... If it does come at Christmas time I would think it would be LTE...

Either way, if VZW is THIS quiet about the incredible, how do you think the iPhone will be? You won't hear anything official until the bitter end lol
