Honestly, it will be me first Android device, so I'll be playing with it constantly and setting up everything. I just cannot wait for this freaking device!

Me too! I could see myself spending a good 1-2 hours when I first get it messin' around!

So moving on... (THANKS AGAIN GUYS!! ;):))

What are the first things everyone plans to do with the incredible??

The Google Nav Sounds good to me. Then I plan to take a picture of a mirror so I can see what the best smartphone looks like with the best smartphone camera. Then I plan to do a video review in a mirror to see what 720p video from best smartphone looks like reviewing itself.

Other than that. I plan to use the piss out of it.

Seriously, after using this BB Storm for almost a year, I'm going to just start screaming like a little girl when I get this phone. I don't even know what I will do first! I want to see what the Marketplace is going to be like. I want this phone already! :(

^^ I think the first thing I am gonna try to do is set it up for battery saving, toggle widgets for wifi,3g,BT,GPS and adjust screen brightness, see what other things I can do.

Me too shamrock. I just want the phone lol
That does sound like a good idea. I would like the toggles on one screen. See, I know enough about Android to know what it can do, but I don't know about applications or certain features of the OS itself. The fact that we're also getting Sense with this phone is another factor I didn't even take in!

OH MY GOD. I'M SO DAMN EXCITED.

Not to be a downer, but this type of dump could really come anywhere in the development cycle. It helps confirm that the phone is real, but I don't think it does much to confirm any type of release timeline.

The fact that its a bug fix build dated 24 March has real implications for the release timeline. Its typical process to build a series of alpha, beta, then release candidate builds. Typically, the release candidates only make it into customer hands[vzw in this case]. The gold master build for volume production will fix all significant bugs found in the final stages of testing. I suspect the 24 March build is just that, and that production will be based on that build.

Has anyone used the Voice input for Nexus one? Is it awesome? I think this would be a very big feature to be left out of the Incredible, but from what I've heard about the Desire, I don't think it will be included.

Anyone with hands on experience know if this will/will not be available on the Inc?

I hope they announce it soon...

I am giving up and getting the Eris if we don't hear anything by Thursday. Hopefully it will come out within 30 days so I can return it for the Incredible. Now, if I return the Eris to get the Incredible will I have to buy it at full retail or would I get it at the new contract price? Would I lose the NE2 credit since I used it on the Eris? Sorry if you've answered this 500+ times, but I have seen vague "return it, pay $35 restocking fee, get the Incredible" answers, but not those specifics.

Thats EXACTLY what I did Sunday. While my wife was shopping I went to Best Buy. They have a better return program. 30 days no restocking fee. and you can do it 3 times according to the salesman and the manager. ;)

Anyways my thoughts were. I want to learn about the android phones while I wait for our mystery phone. So I stopped by Verizon & BB to ask. Verizon was $79 bucks, Best buy was $29 bucks, & Amazon is free. with a NE2. And get this... BB price matches! :D

So after re-clarifying the return policies, I thought ok, the ERIS is the next best thing. Same OS but 1.5 However, there is a 2.1 update overdue. So I figure its a matter of days or weeks till its 2.1 and it will be as close to the "incredible" as I can get till its released. Then return and rock. If not, replace with the Droid for 30 more days, then return and rock. And if for some reason the "inc" is still a mystery, I'll decide wether I keep the Droid or go back to my Curve till I'm happy.

In any case I get 30/60 days with a droid OS to evaluate while I'm waiting with no out of pocket dollars! It was a no brainer.

And here's the best part. The 2.1 with sense is not out yet but.....it IS leaked for the Eris! I was on 2.1 within the hour! :D:D:D

I'm still not seeing your reasoning to suspect this is a Release Candidate instead of an alpha/beta release.....If the incredible was designed for vzw from the beginning, the things like ro.product.brand would be verizon from the get go.

I'm not sure you can piggy back the eris and DROID like that for a 60 day trial period with out at least switching to your old phone for a period in between.

Voice input is part of Android 2.1, so it will be included :)

So what exactly should they say? Tell you it'll be released on a particular date, and if there are issues/delays, then they change the date. Then maybe the date slips again and now you have all of us complaining that they keep missing the date. If they announce the hardware, what if an issue comes up and they have to change something. Then everyone is all pissy about, "well you originally said it would ship with xyz!". ;)

As much as I'm also anxiously awaiting the arrival of the phone, since the Passion thread days, I'd rather they not make a "promise they can't keep" to us. Hell it might even be that Android 2.1 has a few more bugs to work out with SenseUI or something. It keeps getting delayed on the Droid too. I work in software QA and know that there are always issues that are found at the last minute that need to be addressed. Nothing worse then watching a release date slip time and again when it's much easier to just not promise a date and release it when it's ready.
If VZW were smart they'd take Sprint's approach by a) acknowledging the existence of said phone and b) giving an estimate on when it will/may be released, knowing that they're not obligated to stick by it depending on what glitches come up between the announce and release dates.

I'm envious of all the Sprint 4-G EVO followers on Phandroid Forums as a) they know the phone they're waiting for exists and b) have been given some indication on when it may actually be released. As a matter of fact, in recent days that date seems to be moving up all the time, not getting pushed back. So the build-up and excitement in that forum is at a fever pitch right now with the news that their dream phone might be coming sooner, rather than later. While those long-suffering faithful here still have no clue when or if this phone will ever truly be released and what the final version of it will even look like, as the twits that run Verizon won't even acknowledge that it exists in their product pipeline.

TS... Anything we can do about this probation... :o

How long do these points last?! The not being able to edit is kinda chappin' my behind...
They last for as long as the staff member issued it for. It wasn't me, cause I do not give out infractions, I just warn the member and if not heed to then I just ban. Simple as that.

Is there something wrong with this picture? The Official HTC EVO 4G thread is 19 pages long, and nobody over there seems to be ecstatic that they have an awesome phone coming out. On the other hand, we have only speculation and leaks to go on, and we are absolutely rabid.
Cause 2 things:

1. Sprint sucks
2. MORE importantly, WE KICK @SS!!! ;)
With responses like that its no wonder you are on probation. :D

First of all, it is true that we somewhat modeled the EVO thread after the Incredible thread but that's about it. The posters over there are a bit more reserved in their comments than the ones here mainly because we do know the device is coming out and thus there isn't any let down feeling. Spec wise the phone is outstanding and we know it. The carrier, well that all depends on where one lives and their past experiences. I've never had a problem with Sprint, but with Verizon and AT&T I have. for others, its the other way around. either way I am the type that tries not to bash another phone or carrier and especially as a moderator we really shouldn't come across as bias anyway. Regardless, there are plenty of Guides and mods overlooking this forum and thread, (and impressive thread at that, since its one of the biggest and most searched after threads in the net). So I basically do not have to step in and go off on folks when they act inappropriate. Over in the EVO thread/forums its a different story. Hope that answers the first quote.

in a way i understand the reason why you guys are so up in arms over the Incredible, its an outstanding phone and yet Verizon is acting like it doesn't think so. But soon enough it will be here, just be patient folks.

as for the second quote, bite me sprint hater, I just increased the probation to 4 weeks. :p

(Just joking about the probation increase)

It's part of stock 2.1, but I've heard that Sense UI does not include it. Does anyone have a confirmation that Sense 2.1 has voice input?
