Strange behavior of mobile web sites

Go to the mobile site for NBC News or the Washington Post and try to click any link. Nothing happens. I can long press the link and open it in a new tab but simply tapping the link does nothing. I'm using Chrome but Dolphin HD does the same thing. Also get the same behavior on my Nexus 7. I first noticed it on the Washington Post site but now NBC News is doing it too. Anyone else?

I don't have this problem, using Chrome on my GSM Nexus with Jellybean. I pulled up the Washington Post mobile site and links worked fine.

Thanks. I have a Verizon Gnex rooted with Bugless Beast. Thought it might have been AdFree so I uninstalled it and rebooted but it's still doing it. Other mobile sites are fine and the full sites are fine. My Nexus 7 is rooted stock and it's doing it too. Hmmm.

After uninstalling Adfree you still have to delete the host file it makes.

I had this problem on my Galaxy Nexus which resolved itself when I loaded a new ROM. On my Nexus 7, I am running SmoothROM, 4.1.2 and just started having this issue with nbcnews.com.

I don't see Adfree to uninstall and when I go to delete the hosts file, I actually have two, hosts and hosts~ both are around 935kb and marked read only so I am unable to delete or rename them.

Any suggestions?
