My opinion on the 1.2/1.5 Ghz processors. Skip quote if you don't want to read it. Sorry, I'm in a talkative mood tonight.
I think that it was supposed to be 1.2 (for the price/etc.) They accidentally put 1.5 in, then shipped them out. After they realized the mistake I think they may have started putting legit 1.2 in some of the phones, and using a different firmware in the other phones to try to minimize the damage (make it look like 1.2, but it's 1.5 and that's easily worked around). If you got one of the originally shipped phones, or the ones where they just pretended 1.5 was 1.2 then you have 1.5 running from the start, or you have 1.5 clocked out at 1.2, but just root it with correct firmware, and it will be 1.5 normal. Then you can overclock it past 1.5.
If you got one after they started putting 1.2's in, you will have to overclock it to get to a higher speed, because unlike other people you literallly have a 1.2, other people have a 1.5 stock, or a 1.5 that they made act (max out) at 1.2.
Just my theory until someone proves there are 2 different processors in 2 different phones.
I have not used this method, but I will tell my problem/story for others.
I had my phone working fine, rooted, and I guess I deleted either google books, or movies, or whichever one "soft bricks" your phone. Basically I had the error where my camera was all black, at least that was the main one I notice/remember.
I was in the process of doing this, but after reading some of the posts I thought why not just have google back it up.
Have google back up your apps, do a factory reset (easy to do), and you'll end up with the phone working fine. Don't have to do anything else. Just reset it.
Of course you lose your apps/data, but this phone has an external SD slot. Just backup whatever you need to, or move it to a computer. Also if you are in this situation you're already rooted, so you can always back up anything in the root directory if you want.
Then just re-install all the apps you want. You can also set it to not remove apps from Google play when uninstalled, for extra protection. Then go into google play, and you can have all the apps put back on your phone.
For me it was worth it. Extra work, yes, but less frustrating that this process, at least compared to the posts, and I've been using my phone since with no problems.
Also, if you are unsure about a program just freeze it.
I'm currently using Link2SD to freeze my programs. I've got super manager, and Titanium Backup, but they don't let me freeze without pro. Going to have to download ROM Toolbox. It's hard to find a good app for this.
I also need to find a good app for killing programs. So far I'm using the task manager from super manager, which does list everything running, but then it only brings me to that apps page, and I have to manually click force close. Is there an app that will automatically do that for me? I've tried super task killer, or whatever it's called (Icon a littlel Android dude), and it's nice to have checkboxes, select all, and it doesn't show processes so it can be quick, but after I kill stuff they just respawn, I feel like it just restarts the program to use less mem, not kill it.
