You may recall that yesterday I visited my Verizon store in Alpharetta and was met with sarcasm, doubt and condescention.

So today I visited my Verizon store here at work (Corner of 75 and Howell Mill Rd). The difference in the staff was like night and day. I had a very nice chat with a guy named Michael. It was funny .. I went in with this friendly sheepish grin like "I'm gonna ask you about something you're not allowed to talk about..." He and his associate grinned back and I though "I hit the jackpot."

Me: OK .. so I'm wondering if you know of any cool new devices that are about to come out? :)

VZW: Ahh ... I know what you're thinking :) The iPhone...

Me: Oh yeah, that's right .. there was some talk about that .. no, that's not what I'm talking about..

VZW: Oh .. I see.... you're talking about the Nexus One huh?!

Me: No .. not that one either .. there's another rumor out there about the HTC Incredible.

Anyway, the guy was super friendly, and seemed like he genuinely didn't know anything about the device. And he of course confirmed much of what's been said here with regards to the folks in the stores not knowing anything until like oe or possibly two days before the device is available.

He basically said that the in-store reps get way more information about what's happening from people like us going in and asking questions and telling them what we know (or what we think we know).

At least I know where to go for updates now ..
Man, you should have atleast got some info about the Nexus One since he brough it up :p

Anything on an android device would have been welcomed. Maybe he would have blurted out, yea the Nexus One is going to be released by the end of this week :D

Well shoot. I guess when I go back tomorrow for my daily update I'll bring it up. I guess I had convinced myself that I'm definitely going with the Incredible that I didn't even think to ask about the N1. I'll get an update from him tomorrow if he's there ..

Long time lurker...
I would like to comment on the Axis name. I went in to a VZW store last week and asked about the INC and he mentioned they know it as the Axis. At the time I thought he was BS me, but now who knows?

lol are you actually serious? The guys called it the HTC Axis...........wooowowoww

Alright, some ppl go call and ask about the HTC Axis, see if they respond.

For the people waiting for information about the supposed Incredible training starting today:

People usually get home around 5-7. Even now it's only 4:42 EST. Give them some time to come home and post! :)

Axis? What a lame name! What? Are they naming after the Nazi/Japanese/Italian powers of WWII? (Idiots)

Why not. It fits the modern Axis of Evil (VZW Corp, VZW Independant retailers, HTC). All evil for not letting me know WHEN THIS DAMN PHONE IS COMING OUT!:(:o:):D

Your LG VX8300 was released in The second Quarter of 2006 in respect to you challenge. My phone is the Samsung-Sch-u740 which was released in the first quarter of 2007. Your phone may be older, buy my phone doesn't work unless it's on speakerphone mode. So In that sense (Of more pathetic phones using in the interim of the waiting for the Incredible/Passion/Dragon process (Which I've been aware of since Sept.) My phone reigns MORE PATHETIC! OOOO WHAT! WHAT! Punk A#& BIATCH;)

If we're going for pathetic phones, I think I should win. My LG VX8350 has no screen on it, and it has been like this for almost (and possible more than) a year now. It only works in speaker mode, (obviously) and as I've said, a YEAR!!!!:mad:

I NEED THIS PHONE:mad:

I was thinking the same thing. My friends chuckle at how often I talk about the "Incredible," since it sounds like self-proclaimed greatness (I guess it kind of is), but they wouldn't laugh at The Kracken! RELEASE THE KRACKEN!

they probably would laugh though..

I am thinking about getting the Droid to hold me over until the Incredible is released, and if it is not released within the 30 day return period I will just return it and go back to my Moto Q. Either way the Droid is going back before the 30 days is up.

My questions is this: This is part of the VZW return policy:

Because the FCC requires that carriers convert nearly all of their devices to GPS capability, Verizon Wireless will no longer allow non–GPS phones to be activated on our network. If you upgrade from a non–GPS–capable to a GPS–capable phone and then return it within the 30–day period, Verizon Wireless will not allow the older non–GPS–capable phone back on our network. We will, however, allow you to exchange your new phone for another GPS–capable device that will meet your needs.

What does that mean? My Q is not GPS capable (or at least VZW disabled it). Does that mean I cannot reactivate my Q if I return the Droid?

I know this is kinda off topic, but it ultimately leads me to my Incredible.

I love how we're reaching so far as to believe what it says on Wikipedia considering anyone can edit that article and put whatever they feel like.

non-gps capable means non-emergency capable meaning if you dialed 911 would they be able to find you. I would bet a lot of money your Q is 911-gps capable. Your phone would have to be REALLY old for it not to be.

Free Kappy and Montana Man!

Fine with the name. Just give me the phone. They could release it as "The Phone Formerly Known as the HTC Incredible" I really don't care.
Funny i was just talking about this elsewhere. I think they should have called it the Verizon Phantom. lol More appropriate. But seriously, if they did actually renamed it Axis, then in my opinion that sucks. i like the Incredible name.
