Help Moto Triumph - Spontaneous Reboot

dpaultx

Newbie
Picked up a used Triumph on eBay a couple of months ago (stock, unrooted) and have been reasonably happy with it. I was a bit leery of the MT, after all the horror stories following the phones initial release, but I've found it to be a rather significant improvement over the OV that I had been carrying for a year and a half. The OV is a great phone, but its tiny memory finally got to me and the MT seemed the best option while still being able to hang onto my $25 plan.

I believe this is a "newer" production unit of the MT (it appears to be dated 02/10/12) and while it does have a tiny bit of light leakage at the bottom of the screen, the camera, GPS, and everything else seems to work just fine.

The only problem I'm having, and it's really not a big problem, is an occasional, random, spontaneous reboot. This happens at odd times, with no warning, when the phone is just laying there, doing nothing. Sometimes while it's charging, but not always. The phone just reboots itself and is then fine. Not a big deal, just curious.

The really curious thing is that I have the "Silent Boot" app installed on the phone, and when I intentionally power the phone off and restart it myself, the SB app prevents the annoying VM splash screen "scream" from sounding. But, when the phone spontaneously reboots on its own, the opening "scream" plays anyway, just as if the SB app wasn't even there.

Any ideas?

although there can be a few factors with random reboots, like undervolting or overclocking

most likely then not its a rouge app thats causing it

yes the OV indeed is a awesome lil phone and the only cons are that it has low internal memory and as it might seem small processor but for it size it works wonder BTW there is a way to fix the small internal memory problem(on custom ROM anyways :D ) you can force to install apps on the SD card .....anyways far as your problem did not see that you mention that you are on a custom rom or are you on stock ??? if you are on custom rom what ROM you using but seems to be that app acting up but cant be sure need more info
edit:i suggest if you havent install a custom ROM to do so being on stock is not getting your moneys worth on a triumph lol installing a custom ROM will also install a better splash screen(depends what rom or you can change it yourself from CWM)
