only if flashing it requires you to change your hboot..or if your not using 4ext you may need to fastboot flash the kernel

I'm on the stock boot I think its either 1.57 or 1.58 and I have no qualms about flashing the kernel in fastboot. I'm using the CWM Touch old habits die hard.

I am a cwm user as well..of many phones...but with this phone it will be very beneficial for you to use 4ext especially if your not currently s off..it will help write to your boot partition..or you may want to consider doing the jb s off procedure..

I may do S-OFF in the future but I'm good to flash this as long as I fastboot flash the boot.img? I'll be right back with my hboot ver gotta check it again sometime lol.

Edit: yeah I'm on 1.57 so am I a go for flashing then fast boot flashing the kernel?

well in theory, not being s off could lead to problems..even fastboot flashing the kernel...but yes you should be able to flash the Rom and then fastboot flash the kernel..which I do not see the kernel listed in the op..this may be because 9/10 of the current user population are already s off...pm the op jmz to find out forsure..I would hate to steer you wrong.

No problem, I recently had an One V and had to do the same thing I may have to extract the boot.IMG but I can't see why their would be any difference when they are both HTC devices. No 4G though is kinda holding me up on this. Hopefully CM10 and thus get those kinks ironed out then I may just S-OFF like the rest of y'all lol.

Running CM10 right now, I can tell you it's worth the VERY minimal risk.

The Sense 4 MMS fix was discovered a while ago, it's the same to get stock based Sprint ROMs working on the Evo V (MeanROM for example). Swap out the /system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/xml/apns.xml with the one from the stock VM ROM (or any Sense 3.6 based ROM that has MMS working). After that, reboot recovery + wipe ALL data/cache, that should do the trick.
