so so sick of constant crashing/ freezing up on on S2

I have rooted my S2 using ROM listed here and even before then I kept crashing or freezing up. Just the way this darn things works.. like when I am in a call the screen blanks out and yes I am using the new Jellybean. I feel Android is a good product but the nuances on the way it works is just ridiculous. So many Google icons everywhere and ads... just great... I am just going to get a iPhone 5 as a spare.... I think S2 is great .. nice video etc.. but a lot of problems it seriously needs to address.

There is no stable Jellybean ROM yet for our phones (i777)... no wonder you are having issues. I have CM9 right now (works flawlessly). If you cannot stand the instability of a "nightly" ROM, I invite you to flash a "stable" ROM (problem solved)

Can you kinda tell me how you flash and where can I get this ROM. I got the one from Samsung Kies.. which told me there was an Update. I am in USA here east coast. I know there are many ways of updating ROMS.. can you please share with us your methods used or a site I can see. I went to a place called. GalaxyRoot 2 or something but there is not good.

Hi there, I'll give you the links I used... (I took a couple weeks educating myself on this topic before I took action)

Important to know... there are specific rooting methods and ROMs for each phone. READ, READ, READ!!! Before you do anything, read again! Make sure you understand what is happening at each step. Cheers! :D

- rooting phone (galaxy S2 AT&T i777): How to Root ICS on AT&T Galaxy S2 SGH-i777! | Galaxy S2 Root

- The kernel is important. Siyah is my favorite. Keep updated at this website (maybe download a newer one - only from here):[KERNEL] Siyah - JELLYBEAN - ICS [v4.1.5] "One kernel to rule them all!" - xda-developers

- installing cyanogenmod9 (an example of what I did, I have 9.0 as primary and I'm testing 9.1 as secondary - using Siyah Kernel): How to Install Cyanogenmod 9 AT&T Galaxy S2 SGH-i777 (CM9 ICS)

if you're rooted already the CM10 Jellybean is running very well(even as a nightly). I've not seen a ROM that gets installed via Kies so which rom did you install?

Also force closes can often be rectified often times by the fix permission option in CWM.

I got the one from KIES then.. But I downloaded Siyah 4.15 and upgrade the Kernel or ROM [I think] but the last 2 keys Go Back and the Magnifying Class at the bottom of the glass screen is NOT working. On another same phone.. I have the old Siyah 3.15 or so. but those last 2 buttons [3rd and 4th] works but not so good kernel.. as it crashes all the time. I am so lost on what to do.. I thought of gettting the iphone now... any help is deeply appreciated.

My Phone info:
Model: SGH-I777
Baseband Version: I777UCLE5
Build No: IML74K.CLE5
Android version: 4.03
Kernel Version3.015 Siyah s2v4.15 gm@ubuntu

This is happening because you are using the wrong version of Siyah... Gokhanmora wrote the Siyah code, but remember there are several versions of the Galaxy SII. The Siyah code has been modified by ktoonsez to match the hardware of the i777. Here : [KERNEL] Siyah - JELLYBEAN - ICS [v4.1.5] "One kernel to rule them all!" - xda-developers

this Siyah version will have all your buttons working

Which one do I need? the 3.51 or 4.15...I think I used the 4.15.. and if I flash it with 3.51 will it make the 3rd and 4th button work again? Thanks so much... Do I just use Odin 1.85 to do it and select PDA and the Tar file? Thanks... Actually this is where I got the Siyah code... to flash.. and use the 4.15.

What is this??

WITHOUT mic swap and with
Mic Swap???

Download v3.5.1 - CWM Flashable

Download v4.1.5 - CWM Flashable
WITH mic swap

I think you have the same question on 2 threads (I don't think the moderators will like that...). In any case, you should use v4.1.5 (with or without mic swap depends on the ROM you'll use - it's all on that webpage I directed you to). You can flash the new kernel via ODIN, but I recommend to download the file into the internal sd card of the phone and then using CMW (from recovery) to flash the new kernel.
