Root JellyBean OTA update - issues

Just received the OTA Jellybean update on NS4G. Here's my technical info:

Baseband version: Unknown
Kernel Version: 3.0.31-g3b0c5d2 android-build@vpbs1) #1 PREEMPT Fri Jul 13 11:51:48 PDT 2012
Build Number: JRO03R

My phone no longer shows a signal, and I can not send text messages or make/receive phone calls. I get the message "Mobile Network Not Available".

I've rebooted twice, as noted in another thread, but to no avail.

If I need to unroot, that is not a problem. Whatever I have to do.

HELP, please!

when i've tried different roms this is usually cause I've accidentally used a Nexus S rom instead of a nexus S 4g rom... but if it's OTA then i really am not sure as to why you would have that effect. I'm really not sure how to check except for searching the rom it gave you to make sure you got the 4g update OTA, if you forced the rom upload, just get 4g one

the ota killed my root, but that's the only problem I had. you make a backup before accepting the ota?

Unfortunately I did not. To solve the problem, I unrooted back to 2.3.4, which then auto-updated to 4.1.1. Using PDAnet I realized I did not need to redo the root to obtain USB tether.

I hope this isn't off topic.. but I have been looking all around for an answer buy I cannot find one. I don't have root on my Nexus s 4G.. I have recently upgraded to Jelly Bean (4.1.1) and I am wondering if the root method for ICS will work on Jelly Bean? I am sorry if this isn't posted in the right spot..

successfully rooted this with ease by using this one-click http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544940 just install the drivers then run the root.exe as admin & follow the instructions. it's simple
