O2 and Jelly Bean

I've been eagerly waiting, as I don't know much about rooting. I keep reading how flawless and fast it is. I wake up and see "Android has an update" I get so excited, then disappointed when it goes from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4. It's like a kick in the nuts. Haha.

Hi, has anyone heard when O2 are releasing Jelly Bean to the Galaxy S3?

Not sure mate, as you probably know JB will be released sometime in October, but as you also probably know it will be for unbranded handsets first then however long it takes O2, EE etc to get the update and completley muck it up putting there own "touches" to it.

Completely agree with you there, pity they can't just leave it alone and roll it out faster.:( Phil

Yes, I've had the two firmware updates as well ,didn't seem to make any difference to the phone though:confused: Phil

Got sick of that nonsense phil, dont do long 24 month contracts with bloated handsets, just buy the sim free unbranded version and go with a 30 day rolling contract. I know thats not everyones cup of tea but even having to fork out

Know what you mean, I own my handset and have a monthly SIM contract with Tesco (for Tesco read O2) mostly for the Data, out of an allowance of 250 mins and 3,000 texts a month I used 7 mins and 11 texts last month, but the 1Gb data is most welcome. Phil

Ultimate Internet SIM 200 1 month.

  • 200 minutes
  • 5000 texts
  • All-you-can-eat data
  • 1 month rolling contract
This what im switching to next month. 3's coverage in Edinburgh is outstanding and for

I've got my Galaxy Note on contract through O2. When I boot up there is no O2 branding so does that mean it's unbranded and I'll get JB as soon as it's released or would it be branded without being able to see it?

I'm pretty sure that if there is no operator logo on start up then your unbranded mate. Did a bit looking about over on XDA and there's a bunch of guys over there with Note's from O2 that are all unbranded.

Out of interest did you get it direct from O2 or say from Carephone warehouse or one of the other big independant retailers.

Got it directly from O2 through a scheme from OH's work. I'm happy to have it unbranded as I had a Virgin phone before and it always annoyed me that waiting to draw the logo was slowing down the bootup!

Just thought I would ask live chat to see if I could get any info. All they said was that they haven't even received Jellybean yet?

Like they would tell me if they had anyway but hopefully there are indeed just keeping it secret!
