There have been multiple reports of ROM manager screwing up peoples devices.

If you don't want to brick your precious optimus Elite. Then I suggest......
DO-------NOT-------DOWNLOAD--------ROM-------MANAGER!!!

Thank you, and I can't not stress the point enough.

NOTICE: Must Be Rooted Before Attempting Any Of This!

What get's me is that the Elite isn't supported thus isn't listed in Rom Manager... people are picking the wrong phone which is why it's screwing their phone up...

First rule of rooting. I thought it was more commonly known. Noobs beware. As the thread author stated- Easier isn't always better.

but ROM manager bricks phones it does support. ask optimus v users. took forever to get the douche owner to remove support for the ov. practically took an act of congress. unreal.

Oh I know, even if it didn't I was trying to point out common sense factor..... if your phone isn't listed, don't use it

I agree that program causes more headaches than I don't know what

no. I know you what you meant and you're right. if you don't see your phone... RUN!! IN FACT...RUN ANYWAY!! lol

ROM manager is great in theory, but not in practice. it would be difficult for a staff of people to keep up to date with all the changes one phone can progress through. not to mention one person or even three or four people. its usually sporting outdated stuff that can work on older device models but bricks revised models. best to be avoided on some devices. but yeah,in this case the elite isn't among managers list of "supported" devices.

From what I've noticed both with the Optimus V and the Elite. Is that it is non-members who brick their devices with ROM Manager and then come looking for help. Hopefully the sticky will come up on 'net searches before they try anything.

One can only hope. May the force be with them.

@DsyMnapTic; Thank you again for making this thread. And for making the correction earlier.

Most-def. Wasnt meant in all seriousness anyhow. I enjoy stirring the cauldron at times. Hehehe:D

if you do is your phone bricked? if you try to back up a rom?

Not exactly sure what you mean. The point is simply Don't use rom manager because it doesn't even support the elite. You can back up roms in the recovery, once you flash it. Its as simple as downloading a file and type a few terminal commands to write it to the recovery partition.

Yeah when your phone is supported by it. This phone is NOT supported for Rom.Manager and probably never will so it should never be on this device unless you are a risky bastard. Lol

It is actually supported...You just have to know how to use it...You have to download rom manager, click flash clockworkmod recovery, and then scroll down through the device list and click unknown device...it will say like some weird thing and you click yes then click 3.x + sense we are running like a 6.x.x.x and then it will work...trust me, i have done this before on my elite, the first time i didn't know how to use and it bricked my phone, got a replacement and figured it out, worked just fine

So you bricked your phone with rom manager and then promptly tried again with your replacement? Is it working properly? Can you backup, restore backups, flash zips, etc.?

might want to wait on more people verifying that unless you can easily get a replacement.
