I don't understand this at all.

Why doesn't Verizon announce the phone? They have more to gain then to lose. This idea that some how sales for the Motorola droid is reduced isn't realistic. There are new phones out all the time. Take the HTC Desire, HTC EVO 4g, and HTC legend. There's the HTC HD2 for t-mobile which sold out apparantly. Yet sales for Motorola droid is great. That argument doesn't work.

Then there's the Nexus 1 - delayed and there's no news about it from Verizon.

HTC Incredible - supposedly to be able to compete with the HTC Desire - no news at all. Why?

Something is up and it can't be good. It might have something to do with the HTC lawsuit going on from Apple.

I suspect we won't see these phones for a very long time or until the Apple lawsuit is thrown out of court. I do feel that if Apple wasn't so anti-competitive you would have seen the Nexus 1 and Incredible by now.

Regardless my contract is up in may so I got a couple months to be wrong. Otherwise I'll probably just end up getting the droid.

That's my $.02

I have an idea. Send a very pregnant woman in. Make sure there are no doctors in there. Have her pretend to go into labor. They will have to take out an Incredible to deliver the baby. She snatches it, runs, reports back to us with specs and such.

OMG Angel! That is too funny! I did that when I was pregnant with my son . . . I was in Mexico bartering for some jewelry and the guy wouldn't budge on the price so I *fainted* in the heat. Worked like a charm.

And just because it is almost midnight, and this horrible day is almost over, I can say this . . . Happy Birthday Matthew. I miss you every day.

Not gonna ask what happened. Just want to offer hugs. PM me if you ever need to talk. Woman to woman or mom to mom.

If you're a solo plan or the main line on a family plan, you can upgrade every year anyways, just no NE2 coupon.

According to the IT manager at my work, apparently we're getting a great deal with vzw, as the corp just switched to them. We get 1 year contracts for personal use, a deep discount, and get hardware free (doubt the INC), but would still be able to use our NE2... He wouldn't give me any details and he just left for vacation for a week, and didn't have much time to chat with me today. I asked the other IT staff and they knew little about it.
But I can say, it got me excited

That said, basically, from what I've experienced with csr in stores, they are pretty liberal with 15% discounts

It could very well be exclusivity rights for Android devices where Verizon can only list a certain amount of devices, or devices with a certain level of performance for a period of time. Then again it could be good old fashion "We need to sell as much of the old crap as we can without them returning it."

Amature. You sneak into a maternity store and go into the fitting room. They keep fake bellies to tie on so you can gestimate your size and see how you'll look later on. Swipe one and stuff it in a large bag. They look more real. ;)

Note: I do not advise stealing of any kind at any time! Theft is bad!

Thanks for schooling me. I'm not married and single at the moment.
EDIT - NEVER had a need to go into a maternity store!

Stealing is bad. Mmmmmkay?

I won't tell if you don't.

I... no, we ALL expect a report from you tomorrow ;)

Those are good points I like it.

I really like the HTC Desire so hopefully something that can compete with that can come to verizon.

So you are saying if we ask that most likely we can get a 15% discount?

I worked at a tiny little place, no corporate ties with verizon (as in, the business didn't have vzw phones), I went in, told the csr that our company used them, and was told we got a discount. He checked around on his computer, talked with another guy (maybe his manager, maybe not) and said..."oh ya, ******, you guys get 15% off."
He asked for proof of working there, I gave him my paystub, he made a copy - and I got 15% off my phone purchase, and my plan.

When the Droid was coming out, I went to a vzw store and said the same thing. (much bigger company, but the company was on sprint at the time) I said the same thing, at a different store. Guy said and did almost the exact same thing. Said we got 15%... needless to say, I didn't buy at the time - hence why I'm buying the Incredible next.

Take it for what its worth... maybe I was lucky, maybe not.

I agree with you. The HTC/Google vs. Apple lawsuit may be what's causing the delay. Both the N1 and Incredible are rumored to have very similar features. Considering the lawsuit, HTC, Google, and consequently VZW may be just playing it safe for the time being.

With that said, if Google was playing it safe, they wouldn't be offering the phone on AT&T or announcing coming to Sprint.

I hate to do the ole "I have a friend thing" but she is the manager of a Best Buy Mobile. I asked her if we could go through her computer to check the Verizon listings to see if we could find out when it was coming. Although, every listing was just a code number (and none of the ones previously mentioned for the phone) they had the phone value and delivery date attached to it. The only phone coming this month that was valued at almost $600 was to be delivered on April 25. I can't think of any other phone it could be.

Granted, who knows if BB even gets the phone on the drop date, but even a few weeks ago I had heard April 25 and the comment here

Verizon HTC Incredible is a Nexus One in Red? Phone Reviews

says it as well. I know it's all speculation but seeing the delivery date on their computer and hearing April 25 a few other places is the most concrete thing I've seen in weeks.

My guess is that it's a collaborative thing. Both Moto and VZ put money into it.

Also, the Moto was the first Droid on the network, so there wasn't anything to go with it. Part of the agreement with Moto I'm sure.

If it makes any difference, I searched for the trademark rights and found that the Droid trademark is licensed by Verizon and not Motorola, and was done so by Verizon in an attempt to go directly at Apple (hence the Droid-does) commercials. I don't know much about the iPhone 4G, but I would guess that those types of commercials would taper off if the iPhone is to hit VZW as rumored.

However, Verizon has put more than $100 million into an advertising campaign for the Droid, and is now expanding that ongoing campaign with new updated spots. I can't imagine Verizon throwing more money at a device that many here already consider "obsolete," but rather invest it for a series of devices known as "Droids" regardless of manufacturer.

True, but the CDMA versions of the N1 (Sprint & VZW) may be a completely different phone (relatively speaking of course). For all we know, maybe this version is the most similar to the iPhone. They have already hinted to a "surprise". Who knows what that could be. Maybe the surprise is something Google could get into even more trouble for with Apple.

More likely that not if anything comes the lawsuit HTC will just have to pay Apple to use their patents and this is something that will take them at least a year to resolve.
