Help Streaming to TV / Battery

Hey guys I just got my Evo V and I was wondering about streaming video to my TV from it. Since the battery ends up at a trickle charge is this a bad idea for long term use?

Also I noticed my battery only was already down to 20% today and I barely used it except for occasional web browsing over 3g. This is over a period between like 6 am to 2 pm. I have tried turning brightness down and sync off and stuff like that, is it just a bad battery or is it the OS?

The battery bounces from charging/not charging.... not sure why it would harm it. It does not stay on a constant charge.

Is it stock?

Also, I have used my Evo to stream to TV, and yes it does make the phone charge very little, if at all. I've gotten those messages that say that the phone is using too much power for the charger to keep up.

As for your battery problem, make sure that you also check what kind of games you play/have on there, they seem to be great to deplete your battery.

It is stock. No for the streaming video question I just wanted to know if it would harm it or not.

Regarding my battery being low, no all I did was occasionally browse the web a few minutes at a time but no games. According to power use it says the main drain is the screen (of course). I have tried both auto and keeping it manually at around ~30% and did not seem to help much. I have rooted the phone but not tried anything but stock rom yet and am using the stock 1700 mah battery.

I advise you use Harmonia 3. It's one of the more stable stock based roms, without bloat, and has great battery life (imo).

As for the TV, no it won't harm the phone, just make sure its well charged because it might not charge up, but It'll be very show discharge (because it's charging a little bit).

Battery is getting worse. Only had it on a couple hours browsing web a few mins during down time. Installed harmonia, set brightness to 0 and got juice defender. Phone is down to 60% already! Is this a bad battery or the phone?

edit: between 6 and 7 am it was 60%. Now it is down to 44%.

Get rid of Juice Defender. Android handles power management well without it.

While android is running with the screen on that's true, however by having juice defender toggle my radio every 15 minutes for 30 seconds to check messages and automatically connect to my network when I'm in range my battery life is over double.

Here's some screenshots I managed to get after ~9 hours. Power use says screen is using a lot of power but the chart seems to say mobile data. I was using 3g while at work usually a few minutes at a time to browse the web. I did not do any streaming, play any games, any phone calls, or anything like that.

This is kind of strange since I read about people doing things like that and having more battery left over around a similar time.

Is there any new apps you've installed or used since the battery started being so bad?

I've got 14 hours at 20% with moderate browsing texting and calls and a couple hours of streaming spotify.

You either have a really bad battery or a rogue app eating at your battery.

You could try running a fresh rom without installing any of your apps installed to see if it is the battery.

I've made sure no other apps are open. I'll make it stock again and try that. Thanks.

Edit: I tried that as well as charging full. Turning off. Turn back on charging full. and repeat a couple more times. My battery life seemed much better today. A little over 9 hours today I was at 49%. Probably did more web browsing off data than yesterday too. Maybe the battery just needed training (I didn't do anything like that when I got the phone).

I'm using the Midnight Senseless 1.0.3 ROM which greatly reduces battery use. I also picked up a 3460 mA battery. After the initial first charge, I got over 2 days of use out of it.

I went back to stock rom and haven't had problems since with my battery draining too much since. I'm usually around 50-60%during the week after around 9 hours on battery with primarily web browsing throughout the day.
