Snow on tuesday..

...winter is here.

I got two weather warnings this week. The first one said that the dry weather we've been having for the past 3 months is coming to an end. The second is a heavy rain warning. The rain started Friday and has been raining almost the whole time since

Had our first frost warning yesterday. Supposed to warm back up here into the 70s later in the week. Wish winter would start in soon!

The weather got boring around Denver. All we have is a minor cold front, could drop the high temps by around 15

It's especially fun to pull your phone from your pocket and announce to your buds.. hey that one was .4 miles from us. I'm sure you can imagine the impression that makes on the crowd. :D

Yes i love this feature, it is a good thing to know, i know storms sometimes just roll into the area without rain, a couple weeks back i was caught walking around campus and i received a notification of lightning less than a mile away, perturbed that is wasn't raining i quickly got into my vehicle and as soon as i started it up it started to pour! haha!! Thanks Weatherbug! :D:D

Tornado warnings sirens have been going off for about 30 minutes.

And its dark which is really bad.

Better safe then sorry, an algorithm is used by the radars software to look for gate to gate shear, sometimes as a purple triangle on some radar software and is known as a Tornado Vortex Signature. Sometimes if the rotation is strong enough a debris ball (white) can be seen in the hook echo. If you look on the map and see the motion of the storm (storm tracks) and there is a hook echo or even a TVS on the cell and its moving in your general direction, take cover!

Actually if the sirens are sounding, take cover anyway.

It is clear to me AJ that you need to pursue a career in weather.... somehow, somewhere !

This is one VERY good reason I use twitter. I follow some top dogs there who are into weather. One person in particular is @reedtimmerTVN A heavy hitter who storm chases and has a huge network.

We don't have sirens. City took them down. I'm not joining the reverse 911. I don't trust the city NOT to give unlisted number to the politicians.

NOAA usually has the latest warnings and so does Weatherbug. Any of the weather apps can send a warning.

Looks like our first major snow fall may be coming at the end of the week. Another day of warm temps tomorrow then they sink like a stone. Possibly only getting to the upper 30

Talk about Denver getting dry slotted are starting to come up on twitter for this next system. I would not be surprised. We get cold, but no snow. It will cut either east or west of us. Seems to be normal for it to do this...

It has started. Now let's see how it progresses

Magnitude 7 earthquake at the Queen Charlottes off the west coast of Canada. My cousin noticed it here in Metro Vancouver. Tsunami warnings issued in coastal cities in British Columbia.

Now that bugger that hit us last week is combining with Sandy. One station here had live pics from Columbus Ohio. Those waves from Lake Erie were huge!
Good thing the World Series ended in 4. They might not have been able to resume play for a week. Detroit had high wind warnings up.
