Sprint in talks to be bought.... [SOLD!]

I'm quite excited :D

I don't see any reason for the unlimited plans to be discontinued, unless there are rampant abuses by users.
I think dropping the unlimited plans would be a mistake, since that is their main selling point, but whenever a new company takes over, especially when they feel they need to "turn around" the business, usually everything is on the table as far as finding new sources of revenue. My guess is when they get their LTE built out enough to compete with the big 2 the unlimited will go away, or, as mikedt put it become unlimited*. I also wonder if they'll make any changes to their Virgin/Boost prepaid businesses.

well, we'll see what happens. By virtue of their being Japanese, I'm looking forward to seeing creative solutions.

As a completely dissatisfied VZW customer, I'm watching all of this very closely. I was hoping to switch carriers as soon as Sprint rolled out LTE to the market where I live (estimated early-mid 2013 as of now).

Here's hoping this is all good news!

What do you all think about this:

AT&T sounds alarm over Sprint's Clearwire deal - The Hill's Hillicon Valley

I see it as AT&T having sour grapes about Sprint's efforts to block the T-Mobile merger...but, I don't think AT&T has as valid a case here. After all, isn't T-Mobile USA majority controlled by a company that's based in Europe? And Verizon is controlled by Vodafone, right?
I see that as a case of reverse psychology. They are basically letting everyone know that if the deal goes through that the FCC can't really stop AT&T on their next venture.

as for the names and all joking aside, if Softbank does indeed go through with their ambitious plan of overtaking the world telecoms and acquires Sprint, T-Mobile, Clearwire, Metro-PCS, US Cellular, Leap Wireless. I see them going even further and getting Globalstar (largest provider of mobile satellite voice and data services), InterDigital (extensive patent technology) etc among others.

With having so many a true global name might come into play...
Global Wire
Global Mobile
Globalcom
Sontel Wireless
Sontelco
SonNet
TerraCo
Unicom

But Spank still sounds better lol
