Where to find an OEM USB Cable

I'm looking for an OEM USB cable, match what come with the phone. My original was damaged and after purchasing 2 cheap cords online, and one obviously knock-off OEM cord, I just want a damn OEM cord. All of the others I've bought worked great for a few weeks, than suddenly I'm back to playing safe cracker, trying to get the micro side to sit in the port just perfectly so it will charge. It's not the phone, I'm on phone number 3 for a variety of issues and they've all had the same charging issue. Am I the only one? I found the OEM cords on Samsung.com, but I'd rather not pay $35 for it, but I'm abotu to considering every site I go to claiming to have the OEM cord, actually shows the same picture of the knock-off I got already that never worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can go into your carrier and buy a phone charger for your device. Usually phone chargers come with a usb that attaches to the charger into the wall, so this should not only give you a new wall charger but also the usb cable you are looking for, at probably about 10 dollars.

The first replacement I bought was from Verizon, they only carry "eco-friendly" cords, whatever the hell that means, not stock Samsung cords, and it sucked, stopped working after a week. That's why I really want an OEM replacement.

Well as far as i know, i have gotten 2 chargers/usb cords from Verizon and they have all worked. You could of taken it back and gotten a new one.

You could try looking here: Amazon.com: oem samsung galaxy nexus charger

Hope this helps.

Verizon refused to give me a refund, only an exchange, the new cord was exactly the same, worked for a few weeks, then nothing.

That is where I purchased an "OEM" charger, the first one listed as such on that page, not only was it an obviously fake, off center logos, non-matching materials etc, but it never worked, not even on the first plug in.

Hence my level of pissed-off-ness. At this rate I guess I'll have to pony up $35 to make sure I'm getting a decent cord.

In all honesty, you do not need to pay anything extra for a cable under ten feet in length. And therefore, I usually recommend monoprice.com.

However, since you have been having issues and want to avoid them, you can get any micro-USB cable to charge the phone. You can probably head to a target, staples, best buy, etc and look for a "name brand" cable regardless of what is says it is for - as long as it is micro-usb (i.e. a kindle fire cord will charge your phone).

You will have your phone with you in all liklihood and can check to see if it works there before you leave or make the purchase.

(On a side note, you are using the cable directly? I know you said the connector is usually the problem, but USB hubs can cause problems with the amount of voltage they put through to individual ports.)

Go back to Verizon and get the name of the district manager and his email address. Then send him an email about this and cc EVERY SINGLE VERIZON EXECUTIVE YOU CAN FIND ON THE VERIZON WEBSITE INCLUDING THE CEO (follow the username pattern that the district manager has in his email address). Tell them this makes you unlikely to be a verizon customer in the future or recommend them to friends and family. Also, that you will take this to social media (twitter, facebook, etc.)

Done properly, I guarantee a refund. I have received everything from free meals at McDonalds to a new refrigerator from Sears this way.

Have you checked Samsungs website? they should have OEM cables there (which they'll overcharge you for) but at least they'll be originall OEM cables...

Sucks that you have bad luck. I use nothing but 5 dollar cables from monprice and sometimes Amazon (I buy their cables, not re-sellers) I've only ever had one cable go "bad" and that one still worked the metal casing on the connector just got loose...

There is nothing magical about the original cable. It is a standard micro-usb. I have charged my Nexus with the cable from my kindle with no problem. I have used the cable from my husband's motorola phone. I have used an assortment of car chargers. Any decent quality micro USB cable will work. And they do wear out - no matter how much you pay for them. Purchase inexpensive ones and replace as needed.

I;m gonna give monoprice a try, I've just never had such terrible luck with cords before this phone. I used to have like 5 cables that worked with my last phone, not one of them works with the Nexus. I love the phone, but its got the most finicky usb port ever made.

I bought the one from Amazon and it works great. I also bought some longer ones which work fine too. my old BB chargers and cables work fine too.

Just buy any cable. I used a Belkin charger at home (charges 2 devices at work) and a Blackberry usb cable from my laptop at work.

Never had any problem with either. Charging or syncing.

I have found a difference in micro USB cables used on my GN. I have two LG factory cables which came with my LG Ally and a LG feature phone which will not work on my GN either to charge or to connect to my computer. I have a knockoff Motorola cable which came with the a charger which works properly with the GN connected to any charger or my computer. If I use that MOT cable on the LG it displays a warning that the cable is not recognized as an acceptable cable but it does work on the LG. I suspect it has to do with the OTG function of the GN. I bought a couple of cables from monoprice (gold ends) and they work fine. Some of my micro usb cables don't work on it (but they do work on other devices just fine) and some do. I think the Nexus is just picky.

I have about 5 cables that were working PERFECTLY with my Samsung Epic 4g, but I just got the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the cables (some were OEM palm cables... ok, a bit old) and some were generic micro usb cables, and none of them will charge if the phone is a) in use or b) if the battery is critically low. The cable that came with the phone works well of course, and I bought a plug & cord from the Sprint store (for $30) that works well too. I would gladly spend $10 on a cord, but not $30 again, because I need multiples as I am a heavy phone user at many offices and want to leave cords at each place. I am distrustful of really cheap cords - and would love to find a decent price cord that actually works with our picky SGN.

I use a Monoprice cable (I purchased this one) on my Nexus and have had no problems.
