Guys this may be a bit OT....and some of you may want to torch me for saying this...but here goes. Okay....not yet....I have a disclaimer. I realize that what I'm about to suggest will not work for everyone. And I realize that some people will have loyalties or baggage that will cause them to have strong feelings against what I say....but....well.....drum roll please....
You might want to go over and take a look at the HTC EVO 4G threads....and also take a look at the WiMax threads. Especially the sticky threads.
Remember my disclaimers? Okay, so here's my take. I am currently a Sprint customer...but I've been planning on switching to Verizon since early last year when 6 family members switched over to Verizon. My wife and I wanted an iPhone but refused to switch to AT&T due to residual hatred from previous dealings. So I lurked, almost got the Droid but didn't care for it once in the store. Then heard rumors of the Passion/Dragon phone....then the N1 and finally the Incredible. While waiting here in this forum...being in the same boat and desperate for the Incredible to arrive...I heard about the Supersonic (EVO 4G). Still, my intention has been to wait for the Incredible...or maybe get the N1 on Verizon. What has changed for me is seeing the EVO 4G and then reading up on WiMax. And for me personally, which will not be true for everyone, WiMax is available. The reports are that people are VERY happy with the WiMax speeds. Sprint reports 40 markets will have WiMax by the end of this year. And, the WiMax versus LTE debate sounds like pretty much a non issue considering that it hasn't yet been deployed and the schedule sounds like it will only begin next year. My ultimate point is this....as I research the EVO 4G and WiMax I have no choice but to switch my loyalties away from the route I intended. I'm now ready to stay with Sprint and experience the lightening fast speeds here in my market. And who knows....at the rate the Incredible is getting to market....you might be able to buy the EVO first?

Like I said, I know there are reasons to disagree based on experience, loyalties etc. But I think FOR ME...a good route is to stay with Sprint because I think they are turning the tables. I think when the reports start filing out people are going to start to pay much closer attention and there will be a shift. And...as miserable as many have been waiting for the release of the Incredible...this could be your answer. In any case, I truly wish people the best. I'm not trying to agitate or offend. I think both phones will be awesome. I personally think the EVO is gonna fly in WiMax markets and blow the Incredible away for speed....but in 3G areas it will either be a close race...or the Incredible will have the advantage. Sprint prices (at this point) are better and they have introduced a no risk 30 day trial period.
Why am I here saying this? Because I believe a lot of you guys might find this information compelling. And...you might decide the phone you've been waiting for...isn't the phone you will buy! Please don't hurt me...I bruise easily!
