Hey guys,

First of all I'd like to thank all of you for your help so far! I've learned most of what i've learned from this site, only i just registered today. I know a decent amount about rooting, but surely not everything..If somebody could PLEASE help me out on this as soon as possible it would be GREATLY appreciated! Here's the issue: I woke up today and my phone was in CWMR screen - for no reason...i said "that was wierd," hit the reboot system now - the screen turned off, flashed a couple times and went right into CWM screen again..I was thinking that maybe I could do everything but wipe the data and reflash to restore it to normal:confused:...but I really have no idea what's happening and I don't want to make a move without any knowledge on this issue! it's been rooted for quite some time now and flashed the Eclipse ROM & Plague Kernel after a few others were tried (Love Eclipse)..I'd like to fix this issue, IF possible, without a wipe - but more than willing to do that if that's what will fix it! Thanks for your help! I use my phone for everything so I'd like to get this figured out asap! (also, i use a MacBook, if that has any relevance at all to any answers) Thanks![/B][/B]

There's a post about the cwm bootloop, so it makes me wonder if you don't have the most current version of cwm? I could be wrong, but it sounds like you need to flash that bootloop fix.

Thanks for being so quick! wow..from what i see, it is v5.8.2.0 - i forgot to say that when i initially took a look after waking up - it looks like it had tried to install the ROM b/c it said "Installation Failed" ...

sounds like it took the ota and failed. You need ot find the cwmbootloopfix.zip , get it on your sd card and flash it. Then update to the newest version of cwm.

ok nice, i didn't know it had an ota, was it ICS?..like i said i'm not a pro at all of this..in order to find the fix, do i need to find one specifically for my LG Spectrum or can i just google that file you put up there? and when i flash it, would i just flash it as if i was flashing a new ROM - wipe dalvik and data?

Yup, the ICS rollout. You'll have to push the cwm fix to your phone if it's not on there, which is a pain.

It's about time they do that, but...is anybody give me some info on how to go about doing that? i'm a little confused - i tried to search "cwmbootloopfix.zip" and had no luck on bing or here - I'd just like to do this as soon and simply as possible..

the file is on this forum somewhere, your gonna have to do some digging. Finndo77 actually has a website with all the Specturm files, it will be there. Your going to have ot get nit on your Sd card, put your card in another devie and download form there. The juts go flash zip and flash it . no need ot wipe anything.

right on..so i did some digging, i found Neph81's post

http://androidforums.com/spectrum-a...in-cwm-because-your-phone-took-v6-update.html

and d/l the 2 files there (On scenario 3) , removed the sd from my phone while it was in cwm not doing anything, took the 2 files and dropped the d/l file folders from my mac onto the sd card, re-inserted it and i'm going to give it a go..it was meant for the error in pushing the new v6 update but i'm assuming that it's not much different with what i'm dealing with since the situation was for a modified ROM and not for a Stock

My brother's phone attempted to install OTA update last night, against his desires. His ROM was an old install of Broken Out, and now it's soft-bricked. He's on his way over to have me tinker with it, but I've read others mention a locked bootloader, and I will definitely need to get to CWM to flash anything. Hopefully I won't have to be back here, but OP should probably note that this was likely due to an OTA update that is incompatible with their system.

yeah, let me know how you fix it, please! I tried to open the bootloopfix files from CWM but it appears there is no .zip in the folder - it says "no files found" once i keep clicking on the fix folder in the "choose update from zip file" ...goes from "cwm_bootloop_fix/>META-INF/>com/>google/>android/ > "No files found." ahhh sooooo frustrating! Not how i wanted to spend my day! :/

Does anybody know what the problem might be?

Ok, so since I was using a Mac. looks like i needed to compress the file manually - I did that - threw it on the SD, put it in the phone and tried to unzip - but it keeps telling me that the "Installation was aborted", almost immediately after "Installing" - got little Android with the Red triangle - I can't get it to finish it's work....If anybody can help me get thru this soon i'd really appreciate it! I've been messing around wth it for 3 hours straight now im getting very confused!! Thanks in advance!

Put the whole zipped folder on the SD card, then "install zip from SD card" from CWM

Don't unzip it, just install the zip

@ Hollywoods..I don't, I only have this MacBook..Also - I haven't unzipped or anything..The file that i downloaded wasn't in a zip form for some reason - it was just a folder that had a .img file on it with the META folder as well..basically what I'm saying is that I took the file that i downloaded, which wasn't in .zip form - and compressed it myself so that the "cwm_bootloader_fix" was then "cwm_bootloader_fix.zip" put it back into my phone, then it gave me the option to install the Zip from CWM - I clicked "Yes" then it said installing Finding Update Package>Opening Update Package>Installing Update>Installation Aborted...so now i'm stuck..I'm so frustrated ahhh! Does anybody know what the problem is?

Read this you are stuck in CWM because your phone took the V6 update - Android Forums

Follow the instructions here, that link downloaded as a zip for me, just checked it.

Yeah thats where I got the file as well...when i clicked it - it d/l's as a .zip and then automatically decompresses the file and drops it in the download folder of the comp. just as a normal file folder - so i just go back and compress it again without changing anything - so it really shouldn't make any difference since nothing is changed... i don't know what would be causing it to abort? I have my phone plugged in but i'm also afraid it's going to go dead

try downloading it directly to the card instead of the to the mac then moving to then card. I know there are issues unzipping a rezipping on PC's using the built un windows software.

thanks, i will try that right now and let you know the outcome...btw thank you all SO much in sticking with me and helping me figure this out. it is GREATLY appreciated!!

Awesome! Glad I could help. The boot loop issue is fixed with cwm 6.0.1.1. I'm not sure if the otablock. zip works or not.

Can I restore my Spectrum back to GB Stock from ICS Leak with CWM 6.0.1?

When I played with the leak in was able to button combo back to cwm and restore my nandroid.
