oh dear. the inevitable has happened. mindlessly flashing has finally caught up with me.

tried to update to latest version of rootbox. all fine. then flashed siyah. got to the siyah boot screen, but phone goes no further.

lost recovery mode

can get into download mode. flashed a stock firmware. phone still gets stuck on boot screen (the big S symbol)

any help appreciated

So let me get this straight...you can't access recovery mode at all? Because you could try flashing a different ROM to the device and perform a factory reset.

no, recvoery not working

odin is working

have tried flashing stock firmware through odin, loads onto phone OK and I get the green "pass" but phone remains stuck on boot screen!!!

right, thanks guys, in my panicky state i was all fingers and thumbs. it appears I COULD get into recovery after all, in my trembling state i wasn't timing the button presses properly.

don't i feel a nonce!!

anyway, now got stock firmware back on, so up and running.

queue sarcastic comments......

haha good! GOOD!

glad to see everything is up and running, i was going to be worried if you couldn't get into recovery.

Happy to see you are back in business :)

No sarcastic comments from me Syd. I used to flash my Symbian phones, a much riskier thing to do. I've bricked an N8 and successfully dead flashed it using something called Phoenix (the Symbian equivalent of Odin), but not before many a frustrating hour trying to restore it. My proudest achievement however was dead flashing my old N97 using a JAF box emulator, a four hour marathon of flashing four different files to a seemingly dead phone. I can feel your relief from here.

I'm having the same, or similar, problem in reverse Syd!

Was on Siyah and decided to give Dorimanx 7.4.1 a go, so I reset extweaks in recovery, wiped cache and dalvik, ran Hawkers kernel wiper and flashed Dorimanx....now I can't get past the sammy boot screen.

I'm gonna try again...

My problem originated from going from dorimanx to siyah. Also ran hawkers script. Perhaps he's to blame. I tried again and exactly the same thing happened! If I've got a spare half a day may try one more without the wiper.

(Or perhaps we are for using his script where it wasn't intended, but don't let on to him)

Still no joy getting it working, I've had to restore stock sammy and start again...

I was able to get back into recovery which showed the Dori logo but CWM was still on Siyah , just couldn't get rid of it....which would indicate incomplete flushing (I think)

Might just be a Siyah/Dorimanx clash though...

I still blame hawker ;-)

I went from dorimanx back to siyah, using hawkers wiper v1.6. No problems for me, if anything siyah is better than before I made the switch :)

You may have possibly used my Rom wipe scripts instead of the kernel wiper

GS2ROMWipe/Nuke - Use before flashing a ROM
GS2KernelWipe - Use before flashing a kernel.

If you use one of the ROM wipers prior to flashing a kernel, these wipe /system, so therefore you will have no OS for the bootloader to load

i can imagine i'd be dumb enough to do this once, but not twice..........

says the man who couldnt press 3 buttons in the right order. :stupid:

All that I can think of is that perhaps rootbox isnt too clever in the way it regenerates application's dalvik cache.

GS2KernelWipe wipes dalvik for specific apps (extweaks, setcpu, voltage control and ns tools) as opposed to a whole wipe.

Next time it may be an idea to also clear cache+dalvik after running the script
