Try plugging into a different USB port. Failing that, make sure your drivers are installed properly (in MASS Storage mode, you should be able to see the files on your SD as a drive).

Yes in mass storage I do see my files. But will try different USB when I get home will post back.

ok i tried it on another computer same thing... i tried on all usb slots.. i have the lg spectrum ics folder on my desktop.. right click on window-install.bat run as administrator but nothing happens when i run it.. and i did install lg usb driver again. just dont know why its not running..

You'll need to do factory restore (which you probably can't get to because I've seen that screen with the leak and you can't get past it). If that doesn't work, you'll have to push v7 to the device.

i tired, with the vz software upgrade asst tool, didn't work.

You have to download the update file!
Read the directions, it tells you (should, directions I used did) to put the file at c:\

Also, open the start menu, type "cmd" (no quotes) then when it finds it, right click and run as administrator. Then move to where ever you put the files and run it that way.

or open the folder you need to be in, then press Shift + right click, run command prompt from here.

Hello, and thanks for all the help so far! I'm starting from a fresh install of V6 Verizon stock, and I'm now trying to root. For me, the shell seems unable to access/change read-only files, even when I run cmd as an administrator in Windows 7. I've checked each time I tried that the phone itself is in debugging mode, under ethernet connection.

Some of the errors include "cannot create /data/local.prop: permission denied", immediately after trying to push exploit, and "rm failed for /system/etc/install-recovery.sh, read-only file system". Is there something simple I missed?

If I'm reading this right, you are trying to use the V7 (ICS) root for V6 (GB). If you are completely stock, no CWM, then upgrade to ICS first, then use this root method.

Sorry, I should have posted in the other thread. I actually encounter the same problem regardless of which version I try to root with. I'm actually working with the AllinOnePackageSpectrum.zip file, not the ICS root at the top here. It's just that this was the last thread I came to looking for any answers I hadn't found in the more relevant areas.

If you are trying to root and install CWM, use the all in one from PlayfulGod's thread here (if its for V6) since its the latest CWM - http://androidforums.com/spectrum-a...oot-clockworkmod-recovery-lg-spectrum-4g.html

Here is my routine steps:
on PC
- install latest LG drivers
on Phone
- make sure debugging is enabled
- allow unsigned code
- set usb to internet mode as modem
on PC
- extract rooting files to a folder with no space in the path ("c:\SpectrumRoot" vs "c:\Spectrum Root")
- when I connect the phone, make sure it shows up in device manager as an ADB device

if all that checks out, run the bat file.

You might wait a few minutes before doing this just to make sure a dev doesn't step in here and say I'm an idiot for recommending these things (in a nice way of course :P) but I know this works since its what I do... my 2 cents

I used this method to day to root and i have gained root just fine. However I have lost my home button and my lock screen. please help me fix this. I am a newbee. Thanks again in advance

I can guarantee that you restored something using TB or romtoolbox. For me, I can not restore beautiful widgets without the lockscreen never engaging again. For your it may be different, but I'll put money on the fact that you restored something that ICS didn't like. Your only fix at this point is a data wipe as you now have a corrupt database somewhere.

I didn't restore any apps. I didn't even put TB or romtoolbox back on my phone. the only reason I rooted it is take the text message limit off the phone because I send out hundreds of texts a day for work! Could it have been an app that was on the phone prior to rooting? The only app I think I installed after rooting was elime bomber so that I could get rid of the SMS limit. Any suggestions after I restore it? And do I just do a factory reset or do I have to do it another way like use a v6 restorer through CWM? I'm going to need some help with this!

So far I have not lost my home button or lock screen since my last factory restore. The only thing I have not done is install a different launcher. I am not sure of it is the launcher installation itself, or editing the "activities".

I change from default to the following (normally)
Swipe up to open applications
Swipe down to open notifications
(Those two swipe motions are anywhere on the display)
Double tap any home screen to toggle full screen (no notification bar)
Press home from the main home screen to open the dialer (instead of the home screen preview that some launchers have)

Not doing this is the only thing I've tried that hasn't messed up my home button and unlock screen. (I will be copying and pasting this post to the thread for this issue)

I had the same issue. I'm on Windows 8 Pro. It would say daemon starting and just sit there. Turns out, it was running, it just took a long time to show up in the window. Worked great. I just left it plugged in and went away for a few minutes and when I came back my phone was rebooting over and over and eventually it said completed . :)

First off, thanks for all the hard work PG & co. ^_^

It looks like there's a small typo in the Linux/OSX script.

How long did it take? I've been stuck on the daemon starting page for about 15 minutes now.
