Radio Interface Resource Shortage FIX

There is an OTA available from HTC. Not much luck is being had with it, but it's something to try first.

WARNING: IF YOU INSTALL AN OTA ON AN S-OFF AND/OR BOOTLOADER-UNLOCKED DEVICE YOU COULD BRICK YOUR DEVICE. TO BE SAFE, RELOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER AND RUN THE STOCK RUU AS INSTRUCTED IN THE UNROOT GUIDE BEFORE ATTEMPTING THE BELOW INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS OTA UPDATE.

Check for software updates first, then update your PRL, then update your profile. Try it for a while and see if this fixes the texting issue. Some say it's better at least, but it may not completely fix it. My old solution is under the following quote from this thread.

EDIT: people are saying this isn't fixing their issue, but you should still apply the OTA when you can anyway.

Old OP:

I've had this problem for the entire time I've owned this phone up until now. Here's how I fixed it. I can't believe VM doesn't tell you to do this, but apparently it's in the manual somewhere. You're supposed to do this right after you activate online or swap online.

EDIT: when you swap phones online and/or do this fix, make absolutely sure your old VM phone or phones are OFF and the batteries are REMOVED just as a precaution.

1. Start the Phone app.
2. Enter "##25327#" (this is ##CLEAR#)
3. The EPST menu should come up. Tap on Menu, then tap Reset
4. Tap on OK on the popup
5. Your phone will reboot, reactivate itself, and update its PRL. Then your SMS bug *should* be gone.

This is the ONLY fix I've found yet to be seemingly helpful in fixing the extremely common Cause Code 64 Class 2 bug when sending text messages. Unfortunately, it hasn't been completely successful for most people. In the event this does not help you, please do the following: email saveme@thevirginangels.com as well as calling their Executive Resolution Team at 877-291-5717 and tell them about the error and when it happens. The more people who do this, the better. Let's continue using this thread to tell people to contact VM about this issue so it gets resolved faster.

If all the above doesn't work, go here: http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-all-things-root/595109-fix-everything-turning-your-phone-into-evo-3d-thread.html it's your best bet.

This is what I did to my device as well. I love my EVO V 4g but still every once in a while it will have a radio interference. My antenna still does not hold a steady signal either. I really hope VM(Sprint) or HTC fix this cause I really don't want to switch phones.

The only thing that's going to work from my OP is really the "turn your phone into an EVO 3D" thread which requires heavy modification of the phone software. As always, if you follow the directions exactly, you should still be fine though.

I sure wish I would have known this during the period where I still could have returned the device. As much as I appreciate all that Leslie and other developers do for us here, I dumped more cash on this phone than any other Virgin Mobile purchase I've made in the past for the primary reason of NOT having to fight the OEM system to get a Virgin Mobile device to work properly ... and yet, here we are ... again. Yet another Virgin Mobile device not working properly, and hours upon hours of research on my part (not to mention that of the developers) just to make the device perform its most basic functions.

Seriously, if a company like Virgin Mobile ever had even one internal meeting to discuss how to release a successful device/service, I would think that it would be a no-brainer to make sure that these three things work well;

1) Reliable Text Messaging experience
2) Reliable Internet communication
3) Reliable Voice communication

Now, when your device routinely fails all three of the most basic, most important tasks of a mobile phone, does anyone at Virgin Mobile consider talking about how to fix that internally, or do they just move on to yet another (newer) broken device?

So far, they just move to a new broken flagship and screw everyone over making them think they get a phone that functions. Triumph then V was enough for me. I jumped ship to t-mo and have never been more pleased.

I know this thread answered most questions involving this error everyone seems to be getting it. So excuse me if im bumpin an old thread but im pretty sure other viewers who aren't registered probably have the same question I do. I did every step I can find online besides this one, Reason being when I arrive at the clear menu and hit Menu reset it asks for a password which i do not know. Can anyone help me with? Thank you.

It's asking for your msl, just downloaded msl reader from the Play Store and you're good to go.

I have an unrooted/flashed phone will this fix it or could it brick it?

I have two HTC EVO V 4G phones from VM that I got two months ago. Two days ago I started getting the radio interference error 62 code 2. Afetr much research... the one thing that is different between the two phone is the software version. The one that works is 1.14.652.0 and the one that does not work is 1.13.652.2. After 8 hours on the phone yesterday and the VM reps just passing me from one to the next doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result with no avail, I believe the software versions is the problem. Furthermore the phone works only when the 1.14 working phone is in 3G and does not work when the working phone shows 1X. When 4G service is available the nonworking 1.13 phone does work.

Unfortunately, the phone states there are no available update... I have read more forums about this issue and do not intend to root the root to update the software. Is there any way to force the update from 1.13 to 1.14? I know nothing about cell networks, flashing, rooting and such. I doubt the VM reps even know what a phone is.

You can try going to settings, system updates, HTC Software Updates to see if you can get the update manually, if not, then without rooting their isn't much that you can do except wait for Virgin to push the update.
