Galaxy Nexus vs Lg Nexus 4?

So I want to use straight talk TMobile sim with this phone. does anyone know what kind of sim the nexus4 takes? Straight talk doesn't have a micro sim for TMobile... I hope it's not a micro sim.

I haven't seen which type of SIM the Nexus 4 takes; however, you can cut down a standard SIM to micro size. Some people do it with scissors but you can also get gadgets that cut the SIM for you.

Edit: It looks like the Nexus 4 does use a Micro SIM.

The Lg nexus 4 will cost $299 off contract for 8 GB and $399 for 16 GB. Who will sell their Gnex for the Nexus 4?

Not I. I cannot justify spending that kind of cash when there's nothing wrong with the phone I have. The specs on a new Nexus would have to be leaps and bounds ahead of the specs on the Samsung G-Nex, which they are currently not.

This new Nexus 4 is a spec bump over the existing Galaxy Nexus 16GB GSM model. I understand the market they are aiming for. For many, this may be a viable option.

But unfortunately, this isn't for me. Most of the specs are a bit dated. The S4 is quite capable, but there are others on the market that surpass it. The memory (16GB) is a joke. And most importantly, no LTE option is unforgivable.

Time to wait for the next big thing. This Nexus is squarely midrange at best.

Non-accessible battery. Glittery rear design. Made by LG. No SAMOLED. No huge improvement over 4.1 jellybean.

I'll pass Google.

The Nexus 10 looks much more desirable than the Nexus 4.

Maybe I don't get it. Who's LTE should they have included? AT&T? That criticism seems similar to complaining it doesn't have a CDMA radio. True, it doesn't. I'm sure the version Sprint or Verizon sell will, though.

The Nexus phones are always accused of not being daring enough. But generally speaking they work fine and are capable. They are like the reference implementation of an Android phone. So they won't be daring, but they will be well supported and able to use all the features of the Android OS.

In this case, it's not even expensive. $299 outright for a phone with a quad-core S4, 2 GB of RAM, and a >720p IPS display? It sounds pretty good to me. If I hadn't bought a GNex this year, I'd certainly be interested in this phone.

I hope the battery can be fairly easily removed to replace it, though. As phone batteries aren't a lifetime piece. I realize you can't keep a spare and just swap, but to replace it every year, etc, hopefully isn't a huge chore and doesn't have a high chance of snapping anything.

You realize this is the S4 Pro, right? Not the dual-core S4 that is in devices like the HTC One X?

In mobile phones, this is about as advanced as anything currently for sale.

Yeah I haven't seen it but from what I've read, ips is pretty much the best you can get. There are different classes of ips, but all around it's the best out there...from what I've read. On a side note can anyone confirm the sim card and is it hspa +42? I'm pretty sure it is, not just on TMobile side either.

Gorilla Glass:
Not being a smart ass here, I apologize if it sounds like it....What is wrong with the Galaxy Nexus glass? Is Gorilla Glass significantly better?
No Gorilla Glass on the Galaxy Nexus, No Worries – Survives Key Scratch Test with Flying Colors – Droid Life

Glass on back:
Nice aesthetic! But I keep all my phones in a case. So this would not matter to me. And it reminds me of the iphone4 and how slippery it was with two sides of glass.

Don't get me wrong. If I was buying a Nexus today I would not pause at all to buy this one. I just have had better success with Samsung in the past and I don't see any huge leaps forward here that will make me super jealous of Nexus 4 owners. Slightly jealous. Not super.

I've never had a phone with fortified glass that scratched as easily as the GNexus does. I dropped my old Droid X down a flight of ceramic stairs without it getting so much as a scratch. My Gnexus slips out of my hand from an inch above my wood table and lands face down and picks up a bunch of scratches.

I'm incredibly careful with my phones, but my GN has picked up some minor marks on the screen from somewhere. I've treated it the same as my last few phones (Atrix, N1, Magic, G1, iPhone 3G, Palm Pre) and it's the first one that's picked up these sort of marks.
The Gorilla Glass is one of my main reasons for moving to the N4 (plus the improved camera) - otherwise I'd have stuck with my GN for another year.

I was seriously considering this phone, until the reviews starting showing up. Washed out screen and the back cracking from a small drop? No thanks, I'll stick with the Gnex for now.

They obviously haven't shipped yet, but it's been pretty solidly confirmed it is a micro SIM, and it is HSPA+ 42 from the Play store. The earlier listed 21 spec was in error and is updated on the Play listing.

I highly doubt they will sell a VZW/Sprint one with CDMA. They had enough issues with the Galaxy Nexus getting updates relatively quickly as it is because of the carriers. So I guess they are just going to cut their losses and stick with old model of unlocked GSM.

Although, LTE isn't a big issue IMO. HSPDA+ for you GSM users is technically plenty quick for most purposes. LTE is a much bigger deal for CDMA users because we are using nearly 10 year old 3G technology that barely eeks past 1 Mb/s if the planets align correctly.

I won't because I'm still under contract, but the camera would be one of the reasons for me to get it.

Why does this suck? You were going to buy the Galaxy Nexus, but now its predecessor is officially announced and starts at a very similar price point to what the Gnex was selling for on Play. That sounds like a great thing, I'd be thrilled that I hadn't pulled the trigger. You can wait a month or so, get the phone via Google Play, and I imagine that it will be rooted and running custom roms very quickly, being a Nexus device. The Galaxy Nexus has an incredible dev community, I'm sure this phone will have the same. Be happy, I'd love to have this phone!

Having said that, I see no reason to trade up. Most of the cool features announced will be coming to the Gnex via 4.2. Wireless charging and some of the other cool hardware features are great, but its not a phone to jump to from the Gnex. Am I the only one these days that still thinks it's wise to skip a generation and not trade up once a year? I am on Verizon though, so maybe I'm just bitter I'm not given the option to purchase off Play.

I'll be putting off any trade ups as long as possible since doing so will mean I lose my unlimited data, and the discount I get through work will end if my contract changes. So with all that and the Gnex getting plenty of dev support, I'll be keeping this phone for years. Also, like you, I'm on Verizon so the nexus 4 isn't an option anyway.

True, but some reviews and benchmarks are coming back with battery concerns and the S4 Pro actually performing worse than the S4. And it doesn't seem to be anywhere as good as the A6.

Yes, it's a bug that I'm sure they'll work out. I wanted next gen processor tech, like Exynos 5 or OMAP 5.

Certainly not a fair comparison, but I'm looking forward to seeing how the Exynos 5 compares on the new Chromebook when I receive it. Haven't seen much about the S4 Pro though.

Never mind, looks like I'll be getting the 4 since it's the same price. Hopefully roms will come fast. This is the phone I wanted anyways but I thought it would be expensive. I'm glad I waited.

Edit: does the 4 have expandable memory?

no it doesnt have expandable memory. I read that on cnet
