Anyone else shock that Lucas sold EVERYTHING to Disney

First thing Disney says is StarWars Episode 7 2015

He sold them the rights to everything, and everything including the kitchen sinks to them.

Like Lucas is cashing out before the end of the world.

I fear StarWars Episode 7, knowing Disney it will be 2hr's long with 45min's of it montage songs.

Id only be ok with it, if he had some creative control. why we got so many starwars spoofs n spin off, Lucas doesn't sue everyone, he supports fan based work.

I also have faith with Kathleen Kennedy in the head office. She's been behind a lot of great films ( the Indiana Jones films to name a few) and George never would have put her there if she was incompetent...

To be fair, the new trilogy was the worst it could be.
It can only go up from those 3 horrifying films

BUT ITS DISNEY

they will not make the next movies any better, it will be toned down poltical correct stuff like they did with ET.

The next movies should be the chronical of Vadar, where he lets lose and kills everything in sight.

like feeding Tuskin Raiders into the Sarlacc one at a time, or other fun ways for him to kill them in revenge...

The original plan was to do a prequel trilogy and a sequel trilogy. George backed out of the sequel because he didn't think he would be around long enough. I have to imagine that we'll see the sequel which is suppose to be about rebuilding the republic and the repopulation of the Jedi...

George made a smart move, and Disney an even smarter one.

Disney is such a great company and Lucas is still their as a creative writer to make sure the story doesn't die out...There is so much merchandise and lore behind star wars that this series will probably never die out and Disney will be making money for a very very long time.

Plus Lucas made literal billions from these movies and this deal...

I say he made the right choice and Disney made an even better one...

almost shock no one has brought up monopoly, they now own all the top effect houses. You will not get a decent movie made with out them.

I could care less about Star Wars.
I just really hope this doesn't mean that my phone's DROOIIIIIIID notification will be replaced with the M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E, Mickey Mouse song.

Disney has acquired some expensive companies:

Star Wars franchise, Marvel Comics, The Muppets ...

I am wondering if they are biting off more than they can chew.

Irony is that Lucas wrote star wars but only allowed the movie industry the privilege of getting the last three books as he wanted complete control with the first three. He just didn't have the money to do it on his own at the time. Now he has sold them to Disney, Rather you like Disney or not have to admit its a good purchase on their behalf. George has always been a bit paranoid about his demise but I think he is really looking out for what is best with his company. It takes a lot of energy and effort to run a billion dollar franchise. I think he knows that he is not in position to keep it going for another 30 years or more. I can only hope that if a 7 comes out that it will stay true to the first six movies.

Agreed, Kathleen Kennedy was already a BIG part of Lucasfilms, this will be a smooth transition

I disagree. Episode I, II, III did exactly what Lucas wanted them to do, and appealed to exactly who he wanted them to appeal to.

The problem with that is there is already hundreds of books, published by lucasbooks and sanctioned by Lucas, that tell the story for 50 years after episode IV.

IMO Episode 7 has already been written

Now that's funny, I don't care who you are

Lucas cashed out, he's old and this way, if the movie fails or is hated by the masses he can say, "not my fault, blame disney"

Why is everybody associating disney with montage songs and those kids from the Disney channel anyway? Iron Man, Avengers, Amazing Spiderman, Pirates were all nice movies.

Disney needs to drop the politically correct bull S@@t.

I mean, obviously when you look at their Disney star alumni, there must be some crazy stuff going on behind the scenes.
Let that craziness out on the screen and I will appreciate them...

Meh. The original series were ahead of their time & remained timeless classics even today. The remakes, with a few extra characters, were like buying a DVD with 'bonus material'. Of course, making an original episode today (not a remake from the original three) is OK because it's erm, original... but CGI is way different to that 'analogue' feel of the 70's films. That's what made them special - they really were futuristic, before advanced computing.

I don't see what the problem is. Disney is Pixar, Beuna Vista, et al. The originals were a bit of a fluke because of how epic & timeless they were, & the time they came out. Now it's about CGI so there's no fluke, no amazing feat to pull off, but it will still appeal to sci-fi fans.

Actually, I don't know if anybody remembers that Disney has done more "adult oriented" films through production companies like Touchstone. There are other companies that I can't rembmer off hand, but Disney has made attempts to non-family films through other avenues...
