I really like this phone and I'm beginning to believe it will replace my 3GS. But don't exclude other in-between products as a subscriber I want to know what other subscribers are doing and I can make that choice for myself.

I think the intent of Bill's post was that this is an EVO/WiMAX forum and not an iPad forum. Not that it's an inferior product, just that this isn't the place to discuss it.
 
Hey all, First post!

I've been lurking in the forums as of late. My desire of wanting a new phone began with hearing about the Nexus possibly coming to Sprint. Then, when the EVO was announced, I've wanted nothing else besides it.

My question is this: Are there games available for these kind of phones. I don't mean blockbuster releases or anything, but maybe a fun tower d game!

The only cellphone I've owned besides a trackphone has been a Katana LX, and I dare say i'm due for an upgrade to a modern smart phone. So, forgive the lack of knowledge, but that's why I'm posting!

P.S. You guys at this forum are awesome!

Thank you Vaff and welcome to the forum. There are games available in the Android Market and I keep seeing reports about action/adventure type games being developed especially of the EVO. You don't have to take my word for it, check out the Android Market for yourself.

I feel like a kid in December waiting for Christmas! This phone needs to be released asap! :D
 
Agreed about keeping with the topic Bill. And you did as the apple lawsuit could indeed effect the upcoming HTC products like the EVO 4G. After reading articles about all that and listening to various opinions i have to agree with a few of those articles that said it seems like apple it going after HTC to get to Google and Android. And I also agree that Jobs is a major d-bag. Anyway I wont go into more detail as we are trying to stay on topic. Just had to put in my 2 cents. Speaking of which, Why do you only get a penny for your thoughts but you have to put your 2 cents in... Someones making a penny...

Yeah, I keep watching this thread too, but it's Easter weekend. Beside that, the weekends are almost always slow. I have a feeling we're going to start hearing a lot more about the EVO 4G real soon, so hang in there. :)
 
Well then they better make an app that destroys asteroids cuz ill still be pissed. No exceptions lol

In all seriousness, let me say a few words in reference to the iPad.
Personally I think its a nice device, it serves its purpose although some might differ in what that purpose is, still, there is no denying that it will be the talk of the town for a while, especially today its deliverance.

That being said, the device being what it is, can and will be compared to other devices such as the EVO. In instances like that, posting about it here does make sense. Otherwise, being that it is not an Android device, there are other more appropriate areas for its discussion other than this EVO section. We have a Official iPad thread over in the Non-Android section and thus I have copied over all the iPad referring threads in this thread over to it. On both threads, I have edited the post indicating where it came/went to, so its clear that nothings been changed.

last but not least, I ask of you all to take this into consideration from this point on. That if you intend to post about the iPad or any other non-Android device, and its not comparing it to the EVO or in discussion of its use as a hotspot device with the EVO, to please put the post in its appropriate thread.

Just to put things in perspective, the fact that HTC/Sprint just announced the EVO in late March and are planning to release it (speculating) in June is pretty quick!! As I've said before I was a first adopter of the Pre and it was announced January 2009 in CES and wasn't released until June 6 2009. 5 LONG LONG months. Almost half a year of rumors, leaks, news, but NO release. In the case of the EVO, we're talking 2 months here! I mean that's AWESOME! And we're due (supposedly) for even more news on April 16th? How cool is that? After that, it's just about another month and a half and we're golden! I'm just saying...2 months is MUCH better than 5-6 months
 
yea i knew it came with the slot but never heard anything but it shipping with a card.. good to know it maybe shipping with one and an 8gig one at that
 
Thanks for that video, I hadn't seen that one yet. Just thought I'd point out that the person demonstrating the EVO said it's the "world's first 4g enabled phone", yet htc released the "Max 4g" a year and a half ago which is a 3.8" windows mobile device with a wimax radio, at the time intended for a russian carrier with a wimax network. The EVO is the first android phone with 4g though. I've seen people argue that the max 4g refers to 4th generation or something, but it really was the first phone for a 4g network.
 
Hehe I'm being pretty entertained with the hilariously awkward reporters this "cell phone trek" site has... Check out the Galaxy S demo for a good one, and wait for him to start talking about "little suzy at the kickball tournament"... It's hilarious!

Hahahahaha, watch "Mini-me" slam the HTC Legend on the wall in the Legend video, then in the next one talks about the HTC HD Mini and how it is just right for him and also throws it on the floor.
 
Good Morning Community, and Happy Easter!!!

I'm sure many of you have been wondering where i have been off to, plain ride back home from college for the holiday, gotta love airports.

Any who i thought id clear up a few things i saw in this thread and drop of some more news =]

It is the first ANDROID 4G device. Not the first 4G device. This is what HTC and Sprint are stressing. As far as a new plan goes there will not be one at this time. Right now you will be able to sue 4G service on your regular plan for free. As overage becomes more widely available, you will start to pay for less and less minutes because sprint will allow you to make calls over WiMAX, via VOIP which sends voice over a data connection, somewhat like skype. This is when an entirely new plan will be created and it will be entirely data based. So for now no worries, and at taht for a few years.

There will be an extra charge to use it as a wifi hotspot. This makes sense though because if u live in an area of 4G it is likely that you will be using this phone as your router for your computer, laptop etc. i know i will!!!

On April 16th the web and televisoin will be bombarded with Sprint adds, and the Sprint website will have all the updated specs that the production phone will come with. We are talking crazy numbers for RAM/ROM (FACT), and even android 2.5 (and this is a very good possibility i have been told =]). We will also find out the screen type which i have been told is LCD. I like LCD it works fine for me.

Pricing will be affordable for everyone. I ahve been told FOR A FACT, the price will be between $199 and $250 with a new two year agreement and all that other stuff. This is ofcourse after a mail in rebate.

It should come with that cable unlike the ipad cough cough

So i hope this wait of news from me paid off and that you are all rejuvenated by the wonderful Holiday today. I can't wait to get mine! I will be posting videos of UI walkthrough and everything in less than 2 months (HINT HINT)
