Both tests were carried out one after another right next to each other.

Right off the top of my head, I'd ask if they were both on the same network. Maybe one slipped to another unprotected signal. Have you done anything to the Note, such as flashing?

Both are on the same wifi network. my neighbourhood has no unprotected signals and the unit has not been modified.

My wifi is working fine for T-Mo USA version.

- Have you rebooted your router since the Note has joined the network?

- Have you tried with the router's security disabled?

- Are the speed tests testing to the same test location?

1. Yes I have rebooted the router and speed has not changed

2. No I haven't tried switching the security off.

3. Yes they are connected both to the same Thomson router at the same distance from it.

If on the east coast due to the storm some cell towers are out still so you maybe like me i am having some slow times with my rooted device and i have the wifix app from the google play store still slow

Why is there a ? on the wifi indicator on the note? to me that indicates it was not connected.

I don't quite know, it keeps popping up. Saying to sign in, when it's already signed into the network. I'm definitely connected to the wifi network; here is another test without the pop up :)

Ok, thanks.

Thanks to all your help guys but i think i've fixed it. i have changed the wireless network to b/g instead of b/g/n and now it seems to be loads faster on my newer devices.

Thanks for sharing the solution you found. My Note's on the way and this is a good tip if there are WiFi issues.

I don't have the Note yet but will next Friday.

Where exactly do you change this setting at?

N is always better set alone as its own ssid. Although N is a little faster it has issues when you have multiple devices connected and doesn't do well with obstacles or distance.

Well it'll be different for other routers but with the Thomson router I went on the network configuration page as Admin. (if you don't know how to do this, google it).

Then I navigated to " Home Network>Wireless - WLAN Thomson>Configure" then changed the "interface" drop-down box option from 802.11b/g/n to 802.11b/g

If something's wrong, ie newer devices can not longer connect or slower connection; you can just simply change it back to what it was before.

This seem to have fixed my laptop wireless connection as well, as it too was stuck at around 1Mbps now it's reaches over 10Mbps from all around the house, big improvement.

I hope this will fix any connection speed problems you have. Thanks

Edit : Wow now I can stream 720p trailers on imdb without any stutter, yesterday I was waiting for ages for it to buffer, brilliant !

Heres mine

That very good, I'm guessing your in a fairly urban location. where i live it's fairly rural the maximum wifi speed you can get is about 20000 kbps. I had to mess around with the setting because i was only get about a 10th of the speed i should of. I had to wait for like 5 minutes for a 720p clip to buffer fully :O
