Is it just me or is the sgs3 for metro way too overpriced?

You sure love nexus :). However if it's true that Nexus 4 isn't coming with LTE, then no thanks...

lol. I promise you, I'm not the only one that enjoys Google's flagship phones. And to be able to get the newest Nexus for $299 unlocked is insane. ;) Especially when the last Nexus that came out was $799. I waited a year and paid $300.

And once again, Metro's LTE compared to everything else isn't even comparable. People say "Well HSPA+ isn't even technically 4G". Well HSPA+ in my area is touching 10Mbps where as I was struggling to get 1.3Mb with the coveted LTE. Verizon LTE is a totally different story now. The highest "consistent" Metro LTE speeds I've seen was around 7Mbps. So even still HSPA+ and their "fake" 4G is still faster than Metro's LTE. Plus you don't get your battery beaten to death like with LTE. Maybe I'm missing something else.

Hopefully Metro gets better with their LTE coverage but when people say "It doesn't have LTE" when they are a metro customer, it's kind of a conundrum.

One thing I go by is real life phone usage with the speeds I get around my town which is around 4 up and 4 down I'm able to stream you tube Netflix all without issues so for me speed test are just numbers for me people that have Verizon or att show big numbers on their speed test yet we both stream and Web search without issues just my opinion :D

Metro is fast enough to stream what you want on the Web so it doesn't really matter if another carrier is getting a couple Mbps faster.consistency is more important than speed really, unless you're downloading huge files a lot.

Every carrier right now has "fake 4GLTE". No one is meeting the 4G speed standard on LTE, though some are closer than others.while LTE at full potential will dwarf what hspa can offer, it's not there yet and hspa right now Is very much comparable in speeds at the moment.

Yeah I was able to get closer to those numbers in downtown Atlanta but that was the only place. But every city is different thus speeds are different. So it's all a matter of what suits each person.

I guess the point depends on how good your coverage is in your area. Mine is fast enough to be satisfied...

Idk why people are tripping about it not having lte. Thats how the gnex was at first. Plus hspa+ is fast enough to do anything. Why would you download really large files on a phone? Hspa+ is faster than most wifi for gods sake. People used to be happy with 3g, weve been spoiled lol.

I'm on Straight Talk now. I figured I would start with them being that they get the most heat and actually see for my self what its like. So far I have no complaints but I haven't gone through a full cycle yet. And I usually stay under the 2gigs a month that people say is where ST will cut you off at. But I pay $45 out the door.

Now, If ST doesn't work out then I will either get the BYOD unlimited talk, text and data for $69, 500 min, unlim text and 2GB data for $49. On the BYOD plans T mobile only charges taxes, no fees. I'm thinking about taking T mobile for a spin regardless and compare it to ST and then choose between the 2. IDK but I'm very pleased as the coverage is much better where Im at and the speeds are way better as well. So I have no complaints so far.

If anything, I'm most happy about the battery life on HSPA compared to LTE and to say Im more happy about that then the 7-10Mbps I'm getting, it must be substantial. But hopefully one day the norm will be like 20Mbps on LTE for everyone.

I'm most happy with a $30 a month flat fee. Taxes and fees included.:D
My battery life is better than my LG Esteem with a 3800mah battery. That's with the stock 2100mha Samsung battery.

<Hannibal from The A Team> I love it when a plan comes together. <Hannibal from The A Team/> :D

While I agree that metro is the cheapest alternative, let's not forget that verizon's coverage is SUPREME. I know a girl with the G3 on tmobile and the speedtest app puts out over 12mbs everytime she comes over here. Mine barely does 3mbs in my house.

Depending on where you spend your time, metro could be GOLD or a dud.

I am curious as to why folks consider the other carriers
I looked at the big carriers verizon,t-mobile, and att they all wanted to charge $40 per phone plus there is a 2 gb usage fee (for 2 phones) for 140 ish then fees and taxes....
How do they compare with Metro? I mean I have a family plan so I pay 93 dollars a month for 2 phones (final)So for me its a no brainer...
Just a thought,
Doug

I get pretty good service with both Tmobile and Sprint. I used to have Verizon and while their coverage was the best (although not by as much as people make it out to be), I was paying $400 a month and got the kind of customer service I would consider inadequate if the service was free.

I will NEVER go back to Verizon because of their customer service even if they became the cheapest carrier (not going to happen) and went back to unlimited data (also not going to happen)

I pay $200 a month for 4 phones on Tmobile, and I'm on a contract plan. I could go $40 less a month if my wife didn't use a lot of minutes.

Don't forget about Simple mobile, ( SIMPLE Mobile | Unlimited Cell Phone Plans ) They are pretty good too. Just thought I'd mention another option for you. ;)

The GS3 is a steal especially if ur metro store offers the no credit financing like the one (in cocoa beach FL) where I live does. I can get the phone for $14 a week witch is a damn good deal cause who doesn't spend $14 a week on bs that could go to a bad a $$ phone instead and like the couple of posts on the 1st page showed u would save about 2grand a year and maybe more if they go cheaper on it for black friday, who in there right mind wouldn't want to save that??? I know I would :-)
