NFC Beam to SIII

Hello,

So I have the Galaxy Nexus running JB (Stock but unlocked) and my wife just got the SIII on 4.0.4

When I try and transfer an image via beam it wont go because it's too big but I can transfer URLS / contacts... Big whoop lol. I am wondering if there has ever been an app out that will work with S-Beam or a similar app we both can have that will transfer files without having us to both load up the app? If not, what's the best app to get to share images / movies back and forth?

Thanks!

Why not just pair up on bluetooth. The gallery app has a share menu with a bluetooth option when in single item view or when multiple items are selected.

I have the exact same problem and when I researched it, I read in multiple forums that it was due to the fact the galaxy S3 is still on ICS. I honestly do not know if that is actually correct but just the information that I came across.

I think S-beam utilizes NFC as well as wifi direct, which the GNEX doesn't. That could be the cause for the phones not transferring certain files. Not completely sure on this though, so please don't quote me.

I'll quote you, because that's the case. Sammy used the above approach to make sending pics, music, and videos faster. Meanwhile making transferring those things via NFC completely incompatible with any non-S-Beam capable phone.

It's a stupid f**king idea.

I think the reason for using wifi direct as well is so that transfers of larger files can happen faster. Could this be updated with software, or is this a hardware issue?

Yeah I had problems transferring images between my Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus when the GN was still on ICS. Once I upgraded to JB I was able to transfer images between the 2. I'm guessing its similar with GS3. I was trying it with my friend's GS3 for 30 minutes with my GN and it just wouldn't work. But I was still on ICS when I tried.
