Root New roms coming to Vitality!

Hello everyone,

I am 2GigayteSD (yes thats misspelled ;)) But you can call me 2GB.

I am a themer from the Admire forums and I would like to bless you Vitality users with some roms :D

I am in the works of making some roms now, and will post them at a later date. I may also port some Admire roms to the Vitality for you guys :rolleyes:

So, anyone have anything specific they want in a rom?

I'd like to see a good solid CM7 port for this device. I too am a themer I currently have SPZO's rom themed in a Sense 4/holo theme all the XML edits to buttons, seek bars and progress bars, full dialer and phone 21 apks in total but I've not released it do to his explicit requests not to rerelease his work. But yeah a good cm7 port would mean a lot to the community(may have to be rfs unless you're kernel savvy) thanks in advance.

I figured out the ICS like activity bar and text size for stick roms also. (:

The admire's CM7 works on the vitality, just fyi. ;) Needs the cricket mms fix, and probably some APN love (been so long ago since I ran it).
Issue I ran into was no working /data
Experiment with working APNs -- rework /system/etc/apns-conf.xml -- experiment with vitality's OC kernel as opposed to admires OC kernel.
I dont have my Vitality any longer to remind me how I got CM working (gave it to my Wife), but it definitely does..

Yeah I've got it halfway working on my kids vitality. 3g is sketchy ay best. I'll just wait for a clean port hopefully someone will give it a go. As far as tearing apks apart and editing I'm.golden I've just never compiled a full build or written a kernal.

Yeah... Apples and Oranges.

As for the current cm7 build thats out there -- it is pretty solid ftmp, just needs to be tweaked for a proper cricket port.
OA still runs smoother on the R720. This phone needs a trimmed ROM in order to function smooth and snappy due to the fact that it only has 280Mb RAM.

Yeah OA is pretty solid. I have it reduced to 82mb for the total themed rom that I use. I'm guessing you themed it in the theme kitchen? I ask because of all the extraneous images (ie battery images in systemui etc) but I have it all cleaned up and running great.
 
I know it isn't as pretty as some of the others but Zeam Launcher runs great on Vitality. I removed holo from my OA and that alone made a huge performance boost. I run most user apps with link2sd and have Swapper for Root running a 256 mb swap file. I have 438 mb of user apps on my phone and it runs smoother than OA out of the box with no low ram issues.


I had a galaxy prevail at one point and shabbypenguin had 2 roms for each build one that was a smaller kinda barebones rom and one that was loaded with additional apks it was a great idea. Also Dsp manager makes zero difference in sounds so I would not include it IMHO.
 
Zeam has always been a solid launcher. If you like zeam I'd also recommend FTL just as light and faster with more customization. (Core animation speed control etc)
 
My first Vitality rom will be released sometime after the 8th :) I have put alot of time into it so far, so I hope you guys like it when it gets released! Keeping the details of it on the down low until the 8th. I will give you a riddle though ;)

What has caused the Samsung Admire to lose data, but now gives life to the Vitality? This generic answer will lead you to the path of the updated version of awesomeness and the base of this ROM

The person who figures it out first will get first dibs on the rom :D

I was thinking a pure src built stock gingerbread rom. No theme just pure android like the original nexus s it was amazing. Maybe include the Oct kernel and ext4 support. Cm7 is good but I think it'd be bloated for this phone. Just a thought.
 
My first built from src rom :D I'll work on it after AWO ;) Got all the tools, guides, and bags Doritos needed to start. Just need to sit down, and effing do it.

Hello I'm very interested in helping since I have a phone I can use as a guinea pig. BTW the phone I'm talking about doesn't have data connected but it can connect to Wi-Fi. I am willing to help as long as I receive a little bit of guidance when retrieving data.

My vitality Rom is almost done!!! Just need to work out some bugs then it will be ready for a vitality tester :D
