Root possible to fix wifi tether?

i have been creating threads to troubleshoot the wifi tether on my sprint evo 4g phone. For about a year the wifi tether has been working beautifully but the past couple of months it has been very slow.It stillworks the most i can do is do gchat, but browsing websites takes forever. The connection is not an issue because I have strong bars for 4g.

Should i chalk this phone as a loss and buy a re furbished phone and re root?

several roms e. mik mik
updating system profile.
erasing cache.

I don't know much about wifi tether, as I don't use it, but from what I've gleaned here and there, don't know if you can use it with 4g? Have you tried any apps? Wired or wireless?

Could it possibly be a tower issue? I know Sprint has been having alot of issues with their upgrades lately

they dont show any issues with towers in my area. been on call with customer service reps

Have you tried different prl's? Like other Sprint prl's or Verizon prls?
Just be careful with too much usage on Verizon's prl's....Sprint will send you a warning letter

no i have not tried, i will look into it

okee dokee, here is some reading on how to install them.
You can use whatever prl you choose, not just what is listed here.
MikG3.11 is a good rom to use to install the prl (has to be a sense rom with epst.apk file)

Go into menu/settings/about phone.
Look for Baseband Version..
The most current radio for our phone is 2.15.00.12.19
It will also list that in your bootloader screen.
