Eris 2.1 leak Bug's and Fixes

I am new to the board, but have read for a while and downloaded 2.1. Everything was fine after loading 2.1 for a few weeks. Now suddenly I cannot hear the sending or receiving end of calls at all unless I have the phone on speaker. I have tried everything: soft boot, hard boot, bluetooth on then off then on again, settings checked numerous times, etc. I even updated to 2.1 version 2, hoping it would fix this but no dice.

Does anyone know what this is and how to fix it? I called CS and all they said was wipe the phone and start over, but that doesn't fix it either.

Also, does anyone know if those of us who downloaded the leak versions will have them overwritten when the standard rolls out OTA?? (I hope & pray!)

My awake time is around 75% when it should be less than 20%. My battery life sucks. I never text, so it isn't that bug. Any help?

Sounds like it's not a problem with the 2.1 leak - if it worked in the beginning and reinstalling it doesn't work. Also, I haven't seen any other posts about this problem.

It is assumed that those who downloaded the 2.1 leaks will get the OTA update.

I apologize if this is a repost of an already establish bug and fix, but I'm having an extremely difficult time locating a solution to my problem:

When I got my phone in December the Verizon guy preloaded all my contacts from my Glyde (yiccchhh) to my Eris (yayyy!) and linked my phone to my Google account. Recently I was monkeying around and realized I didn't have Google sync enabled. Thinking this would push my phone contacts to my gmail contacts I turned sync on, but instead all contacts designated "PHONE" were erased (over HALF..)

Irritated I upgraded to 2.1.v2 which I am SUPER glad I did now. It makes my Eris so shiny now. However, after adding a great deal of contacts and syncng things up including google and facebook I can't seem to link a contact to their facebook acct WITHOUT having their picture show up.

How do I override the facebook sync contact photo in the new 2.1v2 and designate my own contact photos?

Thanks for the reply.

I see many others posting similar complaints but they usually clear it up with a soft boot. The most likely culprit would be bluetooth, one would think, as the phone acts as if it is connected but isn't.

Well, I just ran a factory reset and suddenly the sound started working again while I was activating through *228! I have no idea why, but I am very happy now. :)

I really haven't had any major problems with this phone, but this was just a terrible "bug".

Happy Easter!

I am not sure why that would be, perhaps check out http://androidforums.com/htc-droid-eris/53708-everything-you-need-know-about-your-htc-eris.html and see the tips on battery life.

I decided to do what OftheDamned suggest, and uninstaled Advance Task Killer on my phone and my wifes yesterday. This morning my awake time is at 2.5%! It has never been that low. I will monitor it throughout the day and see how it goes.

I did the manual upgrade on my Droid. Everything's cool except I get a "This Phone Belongs to: " with a clock under it sometimes on my slider opening screen. Anybody seen this? Is there a way to put your name in there?

When you find out how to input something there, be sure and be creative.

Hello All,

Anyone having issues with phonemypc after upgrading to the new 2.1 leak.
I put in my user name on the eris but once I hit enter, the phone goes back to the home screen. Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks.

For whatever reason my uptime and my awake time are just about the same. I'm not sure what could be causing this. I'm running the 2.1 v2. If anybody has figured out a fix let me know.

I installed 2.1 v2 and everything has been great so far (except for the call lag at times) but one thing that has been buggy is the messaging. Whenever I receive a text message I get 2 notifications: one for handcent and one from stock app. I already unchecked the notification on the stock app, so I shouldn't be receiving a notification at all. I uninstalled handcent and installed chomp and the same issue occurred. I uninstalled all and just kept the stock app, and for some reason I get 2 ringtones- the one I assigned and the default text ringtone. I still have the notification box unchecked yet I STILL receive the notification from the stock app without any market apps.
Anyone have this problem or can suggest a solution?

I installed 2.1v2 about a week ago, and ever since have been having sound issues. For example....I use Ringtone A as my standard ringtone....and Ringtone B for my husband's ringtone. I use Notification Tone A for my standard text tone (using Handcent) and Notification Tone B for my husband. Everything works fine....for a little while.

All of a sudden, my phone will ring, and it's this other random ringtone...and it doesn't matter WHO is calling, it's a Ringtone I have not selected for ANYTHING....and my notifications for texts from anyone are gone....no sound.

When I go into the settings to check and see what it's set to, on both Ringtone and Notification tone, they are BLANK.....nothing is checked. I reselect my choices, they are fine for a short while, and then they randomly change back to what they were.

Suggestions from anyone????

If you go to menu-settings-about phone-battery-then battery use,it tells you whats eating power. Then if you go to menu-settings-applications you can manually stop any un-needed programs....this work on 2.1 v2 for me, not sure about 2.1 v1, and not 1.5 at all. I hope this helps!

I have gotten that too. very strange regarding the ring tones

The clock widget goes to sleep just like the phone does. It updates as soon as you wake the phone up though. This has nothing to do with the alarm not working though. Your alarm isn't working because you are killing it with the task killer. When you kill the clock app you kill the alarm. This is the reason I warn people about using task killers in the beginning. If you don't know what the app does, don't kill it. Which means that most new people shouldn't have them at all.

Swing and a miss. I just woke up thanks to a regular alarm. "clock" running, no I did not kill it with task killer. 2 alarms set, one for 5:55 and one for 6:00, NEITHER worked. Any other guesses?

You check your Alarms volume control? Better yet ALL volume controls... I recall that happening with my phone, till I went through the sounds settings and Alarms or Alerts (can't recall which) was all the way down.

Upgraded about four days ago. Had the "50% searching for signal" problem, but after the "airplane mode/charge" fix, I haven't had that problem. The only other problem I seem to have is that trapster force closes everytime I try to run it. I think the problem could be linked to me not deleting the SD card before installing the update.

It wasn't really a guess. Unless you have the alarm volume turned all the way down (Audio manager is a great app for setting volumes), the alarm tone set to silent or don't have it turned on at all (little alarm clock icon in status bar should be there if on) then you are killing it some how. There really aren't all that many other options. The best test is to go into the alarm when you go to bed and make sure that it is set and running. Then without killing anything on the phone let it just be. If the alarm goes off in the morning then you have somehow been killing it during the day. If it doesn't for some reason (assuming the alarm sound isn't silent, it is on and the volume is up) then you might have some sort of app conflict with something else you installed.

I ran into a fun one this morning. My phone was set to vibrate (LP on end key and task bar icon both showed it), and all sounds were set off... And yet my wife called this morning and my phone rang at full volume... I set the phone to vibrate again and now it is working correctly.

I have been running AudioManager since 1.5, and installed Where's my Droid yesterday - not sure if either of those are contributing factors. I am uninstalling Where's my Droid to see if that changes anything.

Anyone else having an issue where sometimes your phone will ring, sometimes it won't? It always shows a call coming in but I don't always have sound with it. It;s about 50/50.

Yes once or twice a day. A reboot takes care of it. I believe it is a known bug.
